I'm having issues on my MacBook mid 2014 on 10.13.5 — integrated 750m.

I have a Sonnet breakaway box 550 with a 1080 — this starts up fine with a Thunderbolt 3 connection (tested on a friends new MacBook) but with my connection using Apple's Thunderbolt 3 → 2 it never starts up (no blue light etc.) I've tried another converter and that also doesn't work.

I'm at my wits end with it all — does anyone have any suggestions or tips? 🤞

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014)
2.5 GHz Intel Core i7
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 8191 MB (Sonnet EGFX 550)
NVIDIA GeForce 750M
Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
10.13.6

Your problem is probably coming from the integrated 750m, which is known to complicate things, and not the thunderbolt connection. There are build guides for this setup you can follow, like this one:  https://egpu.io/forums/builds/mid-2014-macbook-pro-gt750m-gtx107016gbps-tb2-aorus-gaming-box-macos-10-13-6-mac_editor/

Mid-2012 13" Macbook Pro (MacBookPro9,2) TB1 -> RX 460/560 (AKiTiO Node/Thunder2)
+ macOS 10.14+Win10
+ Linux Mint 19.1
