MacBook Pro Sonnet breakaway box advice needed.
hey everyone, i just ordered a egpu Sonnet breakaway box developer edition. I set it all up and plugged it together then i realised that it wouldnt work with the macbook. turns out i need a external display(moniter or tv) to actually do this. I would buy a monitor but one: i cant afford a decent one and 2: i would hate to not run it on my macbook because you cant control things from the monitor, but you can from a macbook. I contacted apple support but they said it wasnt possible but they are contacting their electronic team or something. I think that the next update in high sierra would be able to run egpus on the macbook directly but I am not too sure. any help or advice? (sorry for the length of this post)
I'm also starting my project with the sonnet breakaway box 350. I do not know yet how far I can use my internal screen.
However, there is here in the forum a solution how to use the internal screen with a fake screen. Just search. this will also explain the app which one needs.
@simon2005 Are you using the eGPU in macOS or Windows? In macOS, software developers have to update their apps to make use of eGPU and mGPUs (multi-GPUs). A workaround with big performance loss is to use a headless display adapter.
i am currently running on Mac OS high sierrra 10.13.5
Also, if you use a headless display adapter, does that mean you get s performance loss? Sorry I just want to confirm
