Geekbench 5 Compute scores dramatically decreased

Hey all,

I just got a Razer Core X Chroma with a MSI RX 5700 XT MECH and it's paired with a Late 2016 MacBook Pro 15".

My initial testing got 64000 in Geekbench 5/Compute - and that was replicated a few times

But I've brought it into work now with the same setup except for a 4K monitor (at home it's 2560x1440 144Hz) - and now the highest score I can get is 37000

I don't know if the monitor makes a difference (I assume not), but nothing else has changed. The card did exhibit some screen freezes every few mins for 2-3seconds at a time whilst playing CSGO. In the same PC I've since changed to a Gigabyte RX 5700 XT and have no screen freezes.

I'm wondering if the 64000 down to 37000 score with the MSI is a sign that the card is failing?

Any opinions welcomed 🙂

@timothy_pan, The popular opinion regarding Geekbench is to not use it. We've found it to be very inconsistent and not reflective of real performance.

@itsage, oh true! Is there something else we can use for benchmarking?

@timothy_pan, Luxmark and CL!ng are apps I use. You can also try MetalBench by @psonice

@itsage, I've done the benchmarks with those:

Using CL!ng:

Intel HD Graphics 530: 201.29

Radeon Pro 460: 800.72

Gigabyte Gaming Box RX 580: 2428.95

Razer Core X Chroma / RX 5700 XT (MSI): 1937

Using Lux Mark:

Intel HD Graphics 530: 2155

Radeon Pro 460: 4344

Gigabyte Gaming Box RX 580: 13257

Razer Core X Chroma / RX 5700 XT (MSI): 27080

What you reckon? The CL!ng RX580 score beats the RX 5700 XT 🙁
