I am new to this and maybe the question is silly, however I can not find any answers googling it.

Namely - how come there are no builds around cards made for laptops? Wouldn't this solve many size and power consumption problems.

Thanks to everyone enlighten this noob. Smile

Best!

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.

@verimage, maybe the laptop cards are rare or expensive? Or an adapter to use the laptop card is rare or expensive? Or what is the point of using a less powerful laptop GPU when there are more powerful desktop GPUs that are easier to connect?

Here's an adapter:

Mac mini (2018), Mac Pro (Early 2008), MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015), GA-Z170X-Gaming 7, Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 580 8GB GDDR5, Sonnet Echo Express III-D, Trebleet Thunderbolt 3 to NVMe M.2 case

Thank you! That makes sense — nobody builds laptops by themselves ...

Somewhat pitty though. I would love a small 8 GB package.
