So, as Asus TUF F15 will be returned after testing the build (link here), I continue to search for another H45 to became my new daily.

And I found out that Dell Inspiron 16 plus (7610) got a variant with i7 11800h and no discrete GPU (!)

French DELL product page : https://www.dell.com/fr-fr/shop/ordinateurs-portables-dell/nouveau-inspiron-16-plus/spd/inspiron-16-7610-laptop/cn76108

Pre-ordered this variant for 1150€ : 11800h / 16Go RAM / 512Go SSD / 86W / 16:10 3k 16" screen.

Dell as shipped it, can't wait to try this 11800h igpu only device Smile

and... yet another Dell deceptive device :/

Even if design, quality, materials and screen are good... there are big problems :

  • Fan and TDP profiles are completly off : performance is set to PL2 109W / PL1 70w but fan start running way after CPU hits 100°C... and CPU throttle to 45W (?)
after that, even when fans running at max speed and temps goes under 80°C it stays at 45W

  • TDP and voltage control are enable in XTU but dell performance profiles seems to bypass it making XTU useless
I got no more luck with Throttlestop
  • Thunderbolt 4 port can be use to charge good point but ... even with AC adapter connected, when the laptop uses more than 90W > part of the thunderbolt port stop working.
    when it happens eGPU disconnect

I was so happy to find a nice tiger lake 45h laptop without dGPU but, with those issues, it's a real bummer :/

Got it today and already completed the return form...

Next device on my list : zephyrus m16 with 11800h and 3060

@wildfear, That's terrible. Similar to your search, I have been considering a XPS 15 9510. Dell doesn't offer the iGPU-only option with the higher CPU choices. Might as well get the lowest spec dGPU then keep it disable most of the time.

@itsage, I first looked at XPS 9510 but it's only available with 11400h with no dGPU, and it's with 56W battery instead of the 86W used for the 11800h variant.

I asked dell's commercial if the 11800h variant could be ordered without dGPU and it's not.

Price is also bit too high and 1st reviews shows limited thermal management.

Then I found the inspiron 7610, I was happy and believed this would be the tigerlake 8c 45h iGPU unicorn I was looking for, so disappointed right now... 🙁

@wildfear, We're stuck with finding a balance in performance, features, and portability. I'm using the Gigabyte AERO 15 OLED. I like it a lot but not being able to charge the battery through Thunderbolt 4 port is a big negative. I understand with both CPU & dGPU running 100W PD isn't enough. However, when we use an eGPU, dGPU would be disabled/unused so 100W PD is plenty for the 8C 45W CPU.

Got my hands on Asus M16 ans Legion 5 pro 16ITH, both with 11800H and 3060 RTX.

Well, I bricked M16 after jsut one hour of use : simple bios update that failed, so I returned it. Seems to be a nice device btw.

I will post the legion 5 pro build soon, here some 1st benchs with my RTX 3080 eGPU :

portroyal
firestrike.4.4Ghz.2
Timespy.4.4GHz

Good points are :

- 2 TB4 ports, one with power delivery, one without

- full keyboard

- nice screen

- top notch thermals and CPU performance : 4.4Ghz all core @95W and 85°C

But it's heavy : 2.4Kg and litle bulky Smile
