Two questions: Need help with BSOD issue and how to use my recovery drive?
So I've run into some trouble lately, ironically with Windows and not with my EGPU.
A few nights ago I started getting a BSOD every time I tried to boot to windows, so I reinstalled everything (using an older ISO for windows, uninstalling drivers / reinstalling gpu drivers, the whole nine yards) and after a night of struggling through all that, I finally managed to get it running the way it was before. I didn't want to go through all that pain again so I made a recovery disk right away.
Tonight, I played Half Life Alyx for several hours without trouble, but when I tried to change the display resolution, the computer crashed and I had to reboot. I tried this a couple more times and I just couldn't change my resolution, so I tried to disable my onboard graphics card (something I never had trouble with) and sadly, I started getting the BSOD again. So I thought "it's a good thing that I have a recovery disk!" and, unfortunately, the disk just doesn't show up when I try to boot holding option. I still just get the two, my mac HD and the windows partition. Keep in mind, I do have a mac with the T2 chip and I have disabled the security feature that makes it so you can't boot from external hard disks.
So my two questions are: Why can't I change my resolution without corrupting my entire partition? and How can I boot from the external disk that I created? Since it's a 2019 16 inch mbp, I have to use a dock in order to attach external storage such as sd cards and usb drives, and I have a feeling that has something to do with it.
Thank you in advance.
