Hi,

So my macbook pro 15" touchbar late 2016 have been for a repair back in 2017 while it was still under warranty (right speaker malfuncion). They changed the whole top lid which included all I/O parts like speakers, trackpad, keyboard etc.

I ordered a new battery from iFixit to replace the current one since it has swelled to a point that it has bent the bottom panel, making it unstable if placed on flat surfaces. The lid also doesn't close properly either.

This issue began occuring since i started gaming using the egpu on bootcamp (Vega 56 + Razer Core). It's still hard to say whenever it's actually the cause for the battery problem. It's quite common for battery to swell.

I want to replace my bottom panel as well, but have a hard time finding a replacement for my macbook pro model specifically. Has anyone replaced theirs from 2016-2018? and can give me insight to if other 15" panels work with my model?

@test1, Have you contacted the local Apple Store and see what their pricing for battery replacement is? They usually replace the entire top case which includes the battery.

@itsage, My local authorized apple store don't provide repairs at the moment due to some weird rebranding. When I check the apple store page, they as well don't provide repairs at the moment. I have already received the replacement battery i ordered from ifixit, but haven't had time to replace it yet due to studies. It's quite a project afterall..
