Here is my setup:

  • 2016 15" Macbook Pro with RX460 built in (latest updates)
  • AKITIO NODE (Latest firmware)
  • Windows 10 Pro installed via Bootcamp (with latest updates)
  • MSI RX 480 8GB Gaming X Card / EVGA GTX 750 2GB TI SC Card

With Windows 10 installed via Bootcamp, I installed the GTX 750 2GB TI SC Card into the NODE and with the NVidia drivers installed it works a treat. A little lower frame rates that the in built RX 460 but still it works.

Switched the card for a RX 480 8GB Gaming X card and the card is seen but has the error 12 issue.

Have tried the Larger Memory DSDT Override (I can see the Larger Memory now in Device Manager) but no success also tried removing the card from Device Manager and removing the drivers, disabling the cards and PCI connections but nothing seems to work (Windows is booting via UEFI). Also tried the TESTSIGNING mode and the PCIEXPRESS FORCEDISABLE command. I can't get rid of the error 12 and therefore cannot use the card.

Any ideas? (The card and NODE seem to be working in MacOS after running the automate eGPU script but there is no Metal option in System Report, waiting for my Fit Headless HDMI adaptor to arrive so I can test running the internal display off the RX 480 Card)

Thanks

Adam

Pls work through https://egpu.io/forums/mac-setup/2016-macbook-pro-solving-egpu-error-12-in-windows-10/ . One user posted they needed a registry DSDT override AND the VGA bridge bit enabled to fix error 12.

Trying to do the VGA bridge bit however the .nsh file does not seem to run properly when using rEFInd. See photo attached.

Have also tried doing it a different way but this also fails to boot Windows:

menuentry "Windows via shell script" {

    icon "\EFI\icons\os_win.png"

    loader "\EFI\boot\bootx64.efi"

    options "\windows.nsh"

}

OH! I fixed the windows boot problem by swapping the boot command that starts with FS0 with the alternate slash! So this / should be this \

That'll get windows to launch!
