I ran the Catalina 10.15.4 update this evening. Waited the usual 20 minutes or so as the installer did it's thing and initiated a few re-starts.

When the log-in screen appeared, I signed on, and did some work, before restarting again, and running the Basemark GPU benchmark for Mac OS Metal API.

I was pleased to see the score tallied by my RX 5700XT eGPU, as it fell inline with real world performance of other popular AMD cards.

(Most of the higher scores were tested in internal PCIe slots in the Mac Pro).

It's nice to have a worthwhile benchmark tool for Mac OS Metal!  Cool

Nice. I did not know that benchmark. Had you tested it with Mac OS 10.15.3?

I got a score of 6166 with my setup below on 10.15.4, but with 4096x2160 pixels.

On the other hand, and on another subject, I set up Head tracking with the new Accessibility function of Catalina 10.15.4 and it works perfectly on War Thunder.

Good to know.

It’s the first time I used Basemark. I like it and will stick with it.

Cool, nice score. We can see from the benchmark how the “Pro” versions of cards Apple uses are driven at a lower clock rate for stability.

@mini-i5, the antivirus was running so it is consistently between 6090 and 6118

Screenshot 2020 03 26 at 17.07.30

maybe it has to do with 32GB ram and the quality of the enclosure? The results are very close to 5700XT but when I bought the enclosure the 5700XT was not on the cards

Card is a Sapphire Radeon RX VEGA 64 Nitro+ 8GB HBM2

Oh, that’s great. I like the consistent scores produced by this benchmark.

Your Nitro + is a higher clocked card, so the high score fits right in where you’d expect.
