I'm currently using the stock 550W Gold PSU in the Mantiz Venus. Because I have an RX Vega 64, I'm considering to either switch to Vega 56 or upgrade to a 650W PSU. I'm leaning towards upgrading the PSU so now my question is whether I should get a bronze or gold PSU. How much would it actually matter?

@wunair upgrade the PSU, there are 2 options (stable options):

  1. Enermax SFX 650W
  2. Corsair SF600

I have the option number 2 and it's amazing, very very stable, but you should go for option number 1, which has more power to provide and it has been tested by many members, so it's stable too. Don't go with Silverstone PSUs they are not good for eGPU, even their 800W SFX-L has issues.

Are those 2 options the best tested PSU for Mantiz Venus? I was looking at the Corsair RM650xSeasonic Focus Plus 650 or possibly the Corsair CX650 cause it's cheaper or would these not fit?. I will take your recommendations in account!

Would the Corsair SF600 fit in an Akitio Node? Liking it for its on/off switch. Looks like the Enermax doesn't have one?

@wunair yes, tested by many users, also the PSU needs to be SFX or SFX-L compatible. So the ones you are mentioning they are not compatible.

@simonasher yes the node supports SFX standard.

Thank you for your input! Will probably go for option #1. Hurts my wallet more than I would like to though haha.

Can anybody who had done the upgrade confirm that Corsair or Enermax are more silent compare to Mantiz's stock PSU? I'm looking for a solution to keep silence when Macbook in sleeping. Currently PSU fan keeps rolling and make annoying noise and I have to turn Mantiz off completely, which leads to some other minor nasty side effects with macOS in my setup.

In my case the Corsair SF600 is really quiet. The fan doesn't spin if you are heavy using it. Don't know about the Enermax

I have the enermax SFX 650W in my Mantiz Venus.

It's very quiet at idle, and frankly, when you load your GPU you'll hear your GPU fans much more. That's also when the psu fans spin up but it's still quiet compared to the GPU fans.

I've also modded the Mantiz Venus with a Noctua 80mm Redux 1800, but IIRC the original case fan was really loud. Not too sure about the newer 120mm variants though.

Glad I finally found this thread... looking to replace my PSU and was curious about options.

Anyone have any other suggestions, I'd love a slightly more budget conscious one....
