[Solved] eGPU detected but not working
Hey everyone, I just started setting up everything today and I've ran in to an issue. I've tried using both the eGPU enabler and automate-eGPU.sh with the same results. Before I explain the problem I'll give everyone an idea of the setup I'm working with.
Computer: MacBook Pro 2015 15", Intel Iris Pro 1536 mb
OS: MacOS 10.12.6
eGPU: Akitio Node (Using a TB2 to TB3 adapter)
Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 970
Pretty much the problem is the GPU is detected by my computer in both Nvidia Driver Management and under System Information but every program I run just uses the Iris. For example I've tried playing Rocket League with it and every time hear my internal GPU start to get loud. I've tried switching between the Nvidia Web Driver and OS X Default with the same issue occurring.
Edit: I just now noticed in About This Mac it still displays the Intel Iris even though everywhere else it shows I have a 970 connected.
Edit: Didn't realize I needed to have the external display plugged in to the eGPU and not my Mac, fixed!
"Didn’t realize I needed to have the external display plugged in to the eGPU"
I did that too Easy mistake to make but at least you can now count yourself as a Mac ePGU 'Pioneer'. Well done.
Hope you are now rockin' your new eGPU. Cool stuff isn't it?
