Hot plug/unplug enclosure (with no GPU acceleration) - Possible?

I am interested in transforming the Mantiz Venus into a docking station that I can easily plug/unplug when I only need the charging/usb ports/ethernet but not the eGPU (which is most of the time).

I tried the Node and while I could hotplug it, unplugging caused a crash. Is there a way to disable somehow the eGPU functionality but leave the rest of the connectivity intact, and will that help with the crashes?

I am guessing only @itsage has the Venus now, but any input will be appreciated.

Thanks

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.

Unfortunately there's no way to disconnect the eGPU in macOS without crashing atm.
