Can anyone advise me if Rastafabi's eGPU Enabler could work better on my mac ???
This is only for NVIDIA cards. Check the main post. Run automate-eGPU.sh twice and then boot with eGPU and monitor (connected to eGPU) plugged in.

@mac_editor, ok. already done. monitor options only work if i connect it to egpu. when no monitor is connected how do i use it as a graphics accelerator in video editing software?
To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.
.@deltanabla, I think the way to get that working was to ensure the app launched on a display connected to an eGPU. People resorted to headless adapters and whatnot. I'd say if you can, just upgrade to macOS High Sierra and use purge-wrangler + set-eGPU - much better eGPU support on High Sierra.

@mac_editor, unfortunately I have already tried to update to high sierra from the app store, but the update has compromised most of the apps I had installed on the mac. i had to restore sierra with time machine

.@deltanabla, not much else for me to suggest then. I used Sierra for quite a while on eGPU and it worked well as long as apps were launched on the display connected to it. Maybe some apps (such as DaVinci Resolve) may still allow you to select GPUs in their settings but I'm guessing the latest versions are likely not supported on Sierra anyway. I'm not sure what apps you use that would break in High Sierra. Maybe create a separate installation of High Sierra and test out apps on there and search for fixes.
