Hi Rastafabi,

Just a heads up that on 10.13, eGPU seems to be conflicting with external NVMe drives (via TB3) while booting. I get a bunch of "Apple NVMe assert failed, disk1: Device error" (disk1 is my 960 Evo in a Node Lite) errors when booting when "NVIDIA Web Driver" enabled and my 1070 plugged in, and the drive is unusable after boot. It will also trigger a kernel panic on every reboot. If the NVMe drive is plugged in after boot is complete, the drive works normally. The problem disappears when "OSX Default Graphics Driver" is selected.

(I know 10.13 is not supported yet, I just want to put this information here.)

Setup 1: Custom Build Mid-Tower Hackintosh (SMBIOS: Apple Mac Pro 2019)+ eGPU
iGPU: Intel UHD Graphics 630
dGPU: ASUS Strix AMD Radeon 5700 XT 8GB GDDR6
eGPU: Zotac NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 4GB GDDR6 via Thunderbolt 3 (AKiTiO Node Lite)
OS: macOS Catalina 10.15.6, Windows 10 2004, Kali Linux 2020.3
Setup 2: Apple Mac mini 2018 + eGPU
iGPU: Intel UHD Graphics 630
eGPU: AMD Radeon RX 570 MXM 4GB GDDR5 via Thunderbolt 3 (Sonnet Breakaway Puck)
OS: macOS Big Sur 11.0 Beta, Windows 10 2004

Never mind my last post, I figured that the crash actually has nothing to do with the eGPU, just my drive is causing the crash.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to help getting me going again! I was a huge to me! However I’m ending the donation now, as I failed to offer a solution to you, while others are already close.

I won’t stop working on this or supporting you anyway and I will create an installer for yifanlu’s solution to ease the install process.

Well... Your reactions [1,2] to this post really make me feel good!

And I do want to give this back with some transparency:

I do plan to keep saving until I can purchase a  Thunderbolt 3 equipped 4-port MacBook Pro (I get 15% education discount). Thou expensive this seems to be the most future proof solution to me. Regarding my personal needs I aim to get a 512GB BTO model. My goal was to be able to only rely to a third (up to maximum a half) of it's financing on your donations. As so far already 583€ (558,72€ brutto due to the PayPal fees) have been donated, the goal already is close. Due to your reactions I opted to keep receiving donations. So thanks to all of you again! We have a great community here.

@Rastafabi, I'm sorry to hear you feel you owe the community a workaround. That's not the case at all. In the true spirit of a community, everybody chips in whatever they can to reach a common goal.

Exactly. Without your previous work many wouldn’t have had a working egpu. I’m glad I donated and I’m very glad there are folks like you in the community.

@ed_co, yifanlu's workaround for Nvidia eGPU in High Sierra is already an installer. Please check the original post here and download the  Nvidia web driver and NVDAEGPUSupport V1 installer.

@yifanlu got ahead of me and released the installer before I got mine ready. As the installer only puts the files in the appropriate locations to make them work there's nothing I can change about that. I'm still on track trying to submit improvements though I'm not yet ready and still experimenting.

If it does not work for you, best you can do is to submit your exact setup configuration and describe in a post over here where you get stuck, so you can be helped.
