Good morning, I'm Luigi from Italy. I have an iMac 27'' Middle 2011, 20 Gb RAM, i5 2.7 Ghz, Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB and High Sierra installed. I have just bought an Akitio Thunder 2 box with MSI RX 560 4Gb and specific power supply. I have no practice with eGPU, and I would like to install Mojave on my iMac. Could you help me? I read many posts on enabling script (eg. purge wrangle), but I suppose that, if I format SSD during a fresh install of Mojave, I will lose such scripts, resulting in a boot arrest. Am I right or wrong? Thank you very much in advance.

Soon I will add my system & eGPU details or a build link to this my signature to give context to my posts

If you plan to update an OS you can always uninstall any/all scripts before updating. Since it sounds like you have not updated to Mojave, then why not update to Mojave first and then use egpu.io scripts? Also you should have an external time machine backup of your high sierra build and keep that on the side (remove and do not use again). If your iMac SSD does not play nice with Mojave's forced APFS file format system (no more HFS+ allowed), you will be able to do a system restore back to high sierra.

Thanks, I have not updated to Mojave because my iMac is unsupported and the DosDude Mojave Patcher says that Macs with AMD Radeon HD 5xxx/6xxx series GPU acceleration (as mine, AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB) don't run Mojave with graphic acceleration. So you suggest to try Mojave patcher (even if without graphic acceleration), then procede with scripts to enable eGPU and permit my iMac to get full graphic acceleration?
