Installing / uninstalling NVIDIA drivers on 10.13.6 seems to have hosed my onboard graphics

Hi all. System config: Macbook pro early 2018 running OSX 10.13.6. This is the version with dual onboard intel 630 and AMD 560x graphics.

Egpu: NVIDIA 1080ti FTW in Node Tiitan.

I installed NVIDIA drivers using the mac-os egpu.sh script and got the EGPU working perfectly over TB3.Yay.

Then I uninstalled the driver using the same script.

Since uninstalling the NVIDIA drivers, I cannot connect to any external monitor (using a HDMI adapter) as doing so freezes my mac and requires a restart. I thought the issue might be driver related, so I've reinstalled the OS from recovery. This didn't resolve the issue. After some more research I thought the cause might be missing displaylink drivers, which I've downloaded and thisis running ok. However the problem of freezing when connected to an external monitor still remains.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can troubleshoot this?

thanks

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.
