Is it worth switching from 1080 to RX590 for Mac?
I am running 1080GTX on High Sierra and am getting really tired of all the drawbacks in performance - even with wrangler and nvda-purge the UI in most basic apps is still very laggy (Vscode, Chrome etc.).
I am wondering if getting RX590 which can be had for fairly cheap now and upgrading to latest OSX would solve all the problems? I can put in 1080GTX back when I need bootcamp I guess.
My instinct is to say make the switch, but it really depends on what you’re using the eGPU for.
As the doc said, depends what you’re using it for.
I found Nvidia cards performed awfully in games in macOS when I used to run them in hackintoshs, part of that was macos’s Fault, part Nvidia drivers.
590’s tend not to be great value, might be better off looking at Vega 56...
