Has anyone managed to successfully build an eGPU setup where playback of DRM videos in iTunes actually works? I have a Mac Mini late 2012 using a GTX 1060 in a Sonnet III-D connected through Thunderbolt 1. This is on macOS High Sierra 10.13.3. All I see in iTunes is that it wants to start playback but it does not actually start. I can see the progress bar of the video but it stays at 0 seconds. When I move iTunes to a monitor connected to the internal GPU playback starts. Moving it back to the eGPU iTunes complains about a HDCP issue and stops playing.

I am using both NvidiaGraphicsFixup and Shiki but those do not seem to help.

I'm having the same issue...I'm wondering if I replace the GTX card with a natively supported Radeon card if this would go away

Looking at other posts this does not seem likely.

I have an entirely supported setup (2016 MBP, RX 580, TB3 enclosure) and iTunes and Netflix playback work perfectly on my eGPU external display. Guessing the hackery to work on unsupported systems breaks DRM playback.
