Just wanting to get some advice before I buy
Hi there guys,
Just wanting to get some advice before I go all-in on an eGPU solution. I'm using an iMac Pro (bought it back in January, the 8-core model with the Radeon Pro Vega 56 card, 8GB), and am maybe wanting to invest in a Sonnet eGFX breakway box with a GeForce 1080Ti Founders' Edition mounted in it, over Thunderbolt 3. I'll be running macOS Mojave, since that's what'll be available in September and it's what I'm running right now (the beta; the only thing broken so far on my machine is Siri). Is this even feasible? Will it work? The reason I'm wanting to do this is because I use DAZ Studio Pro, which uses the Iray rendering engine, and Iray uses both the system's CPU and will use an NVidia GPU (the beefier the better) to render out scenes. I don't think it matters if it's a dGPU or an eGPU. Anyways, can anybody help me out here? Is this a wise move? Thanks for any advice ahead of time.
