Tempting fate by posting this but...

I THINK I have cracked how to use the 5K LG Display consistently (with eGPU).

I was having issues with the Display not coming on, so have been through multiple boot sequences and have found the way to make it work (will update if not).

1. In macOS reboot with only the screen connected.

2. Hold "option" key to select Windows.

3. Boot into W10 - all should be fine.

4. Plug in eGPU - this will cause BSOD.

5. Hold down the power button to force restart, do not unplug anything.

6. As per 2

7. As per 3 + eGPU working.

This is on a 2017 MBP TB, Thunder3, GTX 1060, LG 5K, everything connected to the left hand ports.

Hope this is of use to folks.

It's not so ease with 15" 🙁

In point 1  it's only 5K that you have connected? MacBook is closed?

Are You using external graphics card emulator connected to egpu?

Have you got shell closed when gaming?

Yep only screen connected to start with. Although recently hot plugging the display also works.

Not using clamshell. MacBook open at all times.

Haven't you found a major performance hit using your LG 5k plugged into the laptop over the eGPU?

Not massive.. well... maybe... I haven't really measured... since posting this I have changed my enclosure to a Sonnet so boot is different. No issues with screen detection but I have to plug eGPU in the split second after selecting Windows in OS select screen.

I'm getting 50-60fps in PUBG @ medium settings (with a couple of things on low too) @1440 which I don't think is miles off what I should expect if it were in a desktop PC. GTA V is the same with everything on high. DayZ roughly the same. Fallout 4 high-ultra. If you want any specific gaming benchmarks just ask...

Can you please discribe the whole process accuratly? When you boot Windows with online display the internal AMD Graphics are activated or the Intel one? What software or hardware do you use on the Graphical card 1060 to emulate a screen ?
