@outer_net, The first generation 5K UltraFine display can only work with a Thunderbolt 3 monitor input. DisplayPort to USB-C connection does not work with it.

Ah
So the newer ones work 27MD5KL with the adapting cables but not the one I have?
Think I will have to wait for this

Will those cables work on this screen? or would I be better with DP > DP
Thank you

The LG UltraFine 5K (27MD5KL) can work with USB-C to DisplayPort bidirectional cable but only at 4K. For both the 27MD5KA and 27MD5KL, you need a Thunderbolt 3 add-in card to get 5K.
For any display (including the LG UltraFine display Ergo 32UN880), use DP to DP if it exists. Leave the USB-C port for USB 3.x input if that is an option.

Daft Question - have you got Filevault enabled? My works Macbook Pro 2019 wouldn't boot correctly with Filevault Enabled and the eGPU plugged in. If i booted without it plugged in, logged in and then connected it everything was fine.
Macbook Air 2018 8/250 with Razer Core X / Sapphire Pulse RX580 4GB and too many adapters 😀
Same here, I have filevault enabled and I have to hotplug my Radeon Vii/Core v2 after signing in, or the boot process hangs before the progress bar shows up.

Hello,
I have a 16" MacBook Pro / 5300M with a Sapphire 5700 XT Nitro+ and after the login screen, I get no progress bar. I can boot the machine and then hotplug, but you can't boot the machine with it plugged in.
