Mac OS Mojave 10.14.

Hi,
i have the Mac Mini 2018 with an eGPU connected. I would love to disable the internal graphics card, because its a piece of crap.
Unfortunately, a lot of apps still fall back to the integrated one instead of using the faster eGPU.

Chrome is one of those candidates. When checking chrome://gpu it shows me the wrong GPU as active. (Its obvious when comparing the performance of Google Maps vs the performance in Safari, which uses the eGPU). I did set "prefer external GPU" for it; no change.

1) Any known ways to force Chrome (not Chromium) to use the right GPU?
2) Any way to DISABLE the integrated one, so apps can just not use it?

I’m very new and a noob when it comes to eGPUs so I have no idea if this will help but...

have you tried disabling automatic graphics switching?

settings > energy saver > automatic graphics switching

i don’t know if this option is available on desktop macs but I figure I’d try to help somehow

MacBook Pro 2017
Razer Core X
AMD ????????

Is your monitor connected directly to the eGPU, or to the Mac mini?

I have one monitor connected to the internal GPU and two connected to the eGPU. Primary monitor is eGPU and Chrome executed on this one.

Holy crap, that did the trick! I disconnected the monitor from the internal GPU and now Chrome chooses the correct GPU.
The only reason I had one monitor connected to the iGPU is that I can't see the login screen otherwise. eGPU kicks only in after login for me.
