macOS hangs if I connect eGPU. Just that, no exceptions

*If I connect it while booting, it's stuck at 100% full progress bar

Retina MacBook Pro 2017 13" + ASUS Strix RX580 + Akitio Node
Macos 10.14.1 Mojave

I had the same problem with a gaming box rx580
although I flashed the bios and Firma wäre i could not make it work so i returned it.
Only in safe mode i could see the card. I even had macOS clean installed but no luck.
i had the same issue with 10.14.1 & 2
have you tried different cables That may help try the apple 0.8m one or the original akitio 0.5 sometimes other long cables cause problems.
Check the site for different troubleshooting options that may help. I have listed several in previous posts as I was dealing with my issue.

A. 2.7 GHz I7 4 Cores, 16Gb, 1TB MBP 13 2018 TB3 , EGPU Gigabyte Gaming Box RX580 8Gb

B. 3.1 GHz I7, 16Gb, 1TB MBP 13 2015 TB2 , EGPU Gigabyte Gaming Box RX580 8Gb
