Thats awesome! Im really debating ditching my 1080TI for Vega 64 since it will be native in both Windows and Mac

I got a Radeon RX Vega 56 and Mantiz Venus too.
I hope it could work on my Nvidia-Based MacBook Pro Retina 2012 mid with GT650M.
Just wait for the 10.13.2 public release...

hmm, what can be so exciting about Windows only? Isn't it already plug and play on Windows?

Tested with some games and apps, it runs much more better and all games are stable for me now. But there is another new issue: fans are running at max speed all the time! Another forum member confirmed this too.

Great news!

Great news!

It is great news if there is progress with Vega GPUs, but anyone using the 10.3.2 beta has agreed to an NDA by definition (or is using a pirated installer to get it), so technically they can't report until there is either a public beta of 10.3.2 or until 10.3.2 is released. My main reason for bringing it up / main concern is that people could get this site in legal trouble if they post the wrong stuff. Probably won't happen but would suck if they got shut down for even a short time to have to clean out Apple-specified posts, etc.

Actually the public beta is also confidential:

https://beta.apple.com/sp/betaprogram/faq

Is the public beta software confidential?

"Yes, the public beta software is Apple confidential information. Don’t install the public beta software on any systems you don't directly control or that you share with others. Don’t blog, post screen shots, tweet, or publicly post information about the public beta software, and don't discuss the public beta software with or demonstrate it to others who are not in the Apple Beta Software Program. If Apple has publicly disclosed technical information about the public beta software, it is no longer considered confidential."

NDA is an agreement between a developer and a company, not admins/moderators' responsibility to sort out if someone has crossed the line. Apple will take care of it.

We understand all the excitement regarding this new technology, and I believe it won't cause much trouble if you share your own experiences of publicly available software, from hardware point of view. However, by Apple's definition, we remind that "confidential information" includes "nature and existence, features, functionality, and screen shots".

Most forums seem to set a line between public beta and developer beta, and we try to follow the same rule, even though no forum rules yet.

Hi Ikir, can you please describe your audio problems? Like what kind of cable are you using (DP or HDMI), what is your display?

Is that specific to Vega or you have the same issue with RX580

Only with Vega 56, with my old RX 580 no issue with audio. My display is connected with Display Port. Audio is distorted.

Hi. I've a problem too with AMD VEGA 56 on MacOs 10.13.1 with my Macbook Pro 15 (late 2016). I hoped updating from 10.13 to 10.13.1 the situation could change, but nothing.

Also with 10.13.1 I can't open any game and I can't render any video with software like DAVINC RESOLVE or AFTER EFFECTS or AVID... Also other users confirm this bad situation with the VEGA 56?

So I don't know what I've to do. Change my VEGA with AMD 580 RX or wait the 10.13.2 update of MacOs. Now I read this great news about the BETA. In how many times the 10.13.2 will be public? Thank you.

Why do some expect that beta releases would work without issues? Drivers are not ready until there is an announcement from Apple and a Mac that supports Vega.

The Sapphire RX 580 Pulse 8GB is the only supported eGPU card by Apple, at present.

Valley extreme HD preset: 52.8fps

Cinebench R15 83.95fps

Some test really looks promising

Vega56 GFXB

Remembered these scores from looking at them earlier. FWIW was able to get NVIDIA 1070 working on a Sonnet 550W box yesterday and the scores for both benchmarks were similar (as a point of comparison for those considering one card or the other). Cinebench was just short of 75 FPS, but Valley score on same "maxed out settings for HD" was nearly 60FPS.

GeekBench OpenCL test was north of 80,000, didn't try GFX Bench.

The same problem occurs on my XFX RX 480, but since Apple only officially supports the Sapphire RX 580, I doubt it will ever see a fix.

I get an even stranger issue with HDMI, the OS defaults to mirroring, and the cursor gets stuck in the upper left hand corner. I cannot move it at all.

The keyboard still works, though it doesn't allow me to move between preference panes so I haven't been able to get to the preference pane to change the audio device to test HDMI audio.

Upon unplugging the HDMI connection, everything goes back to normal.

I had the cursor stuck issue too on a RX560 and still running 10.13.0 . Trying to run 3 monitors, 2 from the eGPU and 1 from the iGPU. Tried both HDMI and TB-DVI adapter for the iGPU.

Sorry, couldn't find a fix.

Try to update to 10.13.1, anyway this thread is about Vega56/64 under 10.13

meanwhile 10.13.2 second beta still runs fans at max speed

Sonnet listing "provisional support" for Vega RX 56 on their 550W box once 10.13.2 is officially available. Or whichever version they feel offers enough stability (thus the "provisional" part).

I wonder if its possible fan control for Vega as an eGPU will not be fixed until next year when eGPU support is out of beta. The iMac Pro has a unique GPU and fan setup, and I expect Apple will concentrate on the iMac only for now when comes to supporting Vega GPUs. Maybe the iMac Pro requires fans on all the time to cool down all those hot parts in its thin enclosure 😉

I succeeded in getting a Vega64 to work today. But I am not sure if its working correctly. So its not recognized corectly and the Cinebench rates are worst compard to the RADEON 580 in my iMac. Only thing gives me hope are the rates in Heaven (max 108fps / avg. in the 70s @ 1080p). They are about 4 times more than with my MacBook Pros Radeon 460... the fans are at max.

Thanks fo your help

Peter
