@itsage could you test your VEGA FE with your MBP, I can't make the card sleep (it tries to turn off but it goes back on) and also eject GPU doesn't work (crash the whole system and reboots, however hot unplug works)

I made a clean install in an external HDD to see if my internal setup was the problem but it also fails for me, only thing I can think of is FileVault or having the touchID configured.

UPDATE:

I made another clean install without filevault and I'm getting same results, i disconnected everything except for the GPU and same results, so i guess the problem could be the drivers for VEGA FE

What's wrong with the Vega 64 overclocked edition? Not worth the price or not supported? I just ordered one....

Vega 64 works, I think there is just some funkiness with the Vega FE because they didn't specifically support that card.

I installed beta 7 on my iMac.

My Vega FE LC disconnects fine from the menu.
Sleep/Wake works fine too, but the Sonnet BB550 will not power-down.

Normal sleeping behavior is intermittent with the Vega FE eGPU. I wonder if we should uncheck "Enable Power Nap" in Energy Saver.

@itsage nope, i just tested it, same behavior. Quick question, does sleeping works with VEGA 56/64? like powering off the enclosure?

I have not checked with the RX Vega 56 lately. I will update my observation once I do.

@jyin i have the same behavior, however, sleeping works for short times, if i leave my mac sleeping for a long time, it crashes (beta 6 not sure with beta 7).

All: Neither of the Vega FE versions are compatible with the Sonnet Breakaway Box 550 (Mac or Windows) and only the air-cooled version is supported on the 650 (Mac and Windows). Same with WX9100, same with Vega 64. Not sure about other eGPU models, but only a couple have enough power to handle these cards.

Vega 56 should work though, both Mac and PC.

Just putting it out here, there's a new fix for the fan speed issue and also a way to overclock / undervolt the Vega over at insanelymac.
I'm getting 10 to 20% improvement in benchmarks.

My Vega FE LC with the Breakaway 350 + Corsair SF600 works very well, no problem at all even under heavy load. Standby/Weak  works well under 10.13.4.
I think that the 350w version with the PSU upgrade is the right choice for power hungry GPU as his firmware is set to provide only 15W PD trough the TB3 connection.
