[macOS TB2] Some Update broke PurgeWrangler and automate-efi?

My setup:

Late 2013 MBP Retina iGPU

Sapphire Gearbox (updated firmware)

EVGA GTX 770 SC

Apple TB2 Adapter

My Setup used to work fine using purge wrangler for mac os and the automate efi script for bootcamp until yesterday. Now, Windows detects the egpu as GTX 770 but always says in device manager that it has been ejected and cant be used. Under Mac os, the Enclosure (not the GPU) is detected as a thunderbolt device, but as soon as i reinstall purgeWrangler, which finishes without errors, i get a kernel-panic system crash whenever connecting TB (log attached). The GPU works fine in my Tower.

The only two installations in the install log since it was last working are:
MRTConfigData 1.52
XProtectPlistConfigData 2111

On The Gearbox MB there are a bunch of diagnostics LEDs - when unplugged one is on and when connected to a system a second one turns on.

I have reinstalled all relevant drivers/mods and rewired everything, as well as rebooted and plugged in at all conceivable point - apart from windows sometimes not showing anything now, still no luck - anyone having the same issue?

Symptoms indicate a failed GPU. Can you test GPU with a different system/in a PC?

Hi @mac_editor, thanks for taking the time! I did suspect that as well so i tried both a different psu and the gpu in my desktop pc - the GPU worked normally and the PSU-switch did nothing.

Great to confirm that GPU is okay. Perhaps testing on an extra/clean install of macOS may provide insight (I see some kexts I don't recognize): https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208891

Do reset NVRAM and SMC as well and post back with the kernel panic you see (if any). Additionally, use only one solution - purge-wrangler or automate-eGPU EFI - not both.

Backtrace looks similar. I will have to retest a Kepler GPU on Catalina. When I last checked, it was functional. Since last working condition, has anything changed with your setup - even something minor as external mouse/keyboard?

No, apart from the updates in the system log nothing has changed. I also tried both with and without a monitor connected (hdmi&DP).

FWIW I just tested my GT 710 in the latest stable macOS (10.15.2) and had no problems with using purge-wrangler to enable the eGPU.

Thank you for testing. Seems like it should work just fine for OP too. Hard to pinpoint the issue.
