@mccamel, Weird, I updated to 10.15.4 and still have the 3360x1416 @ 60Hz res. I still have line of missing pixels down the center of the screen though.

@foo, did you or anyone ever find a solve for the missing line of pixels?

Thanks!

Just restarting discussion here after the release of Big Sur. Unfortunately I still have the missing line of pixels. Anyone have better luck?

Yes I did finally! I did presume perhaps the apple thunderbolt 3 pro cables somehow are different then the other usual thunderbolt 3 cables due double display port compatibility once I connected  the MacBook Pro to my LG 34wk95u-we I got a message about a firmware update. Once I did update all resolutions are working perfect with DisplayPort 1.4 selected in the monitor. To be clear I do run macOS Big Sur.

itt can be this firmware update is available for all and make it also work with other thunderbolt 3 cables. I would say give it a try for the first time ever all is smooth and perfect the way it was suppose to work!1

Let me hear guys if you have any succes ?

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.

I still have the line of missing pixels after updating to Big Sur unfortunately. Can't believe this is still an issue after the monitor has been out for a couple of years now (and was designed with Mac compatibility in mind).

What are you talking about here? Solving the problem with the missing line of pixels?

yes, the firmware update will solve that issue, at least with me it did.

Hmm, so I just tried plugging my laptop directly into the monitor via USB-C thunderbolt and I don't see any kind of firmware prompt. I also tried downloading LG's sh*tty LG Screen Manager application, which is supposed to provide software updates for LG monitors on Mac, but it appears to not work for this model. I also can't find any reference to a firmware update for 34WK95U-W on LG's website.

@mgear1981, do you know how to manually prompt for the firmware update? And do you know where this firmware updated is described somewhere by LG?

The problem is first of all i never had any firmware update before for this monitor, the first and only time i ever got one was recently when i used the thunderbolt pro cable apple had rolled out for the 6k monitor and after macos big sur. Lg is not really transparant with these kind of things. You definately need the lastest on screen control app from lg website. I will try to read out what my current firmware version is perhaps you can contact lg then how to get this on your monitor.

@mgear1981, Thanks for your suggestions. I was finally able to install the firmware update, and it seems to have fixed a problem I was having (I was getting random crashes when using the display by thunderbolt with a 2020 iMac).

It was quite the hassle to get the firmware installed though. Here is what I did:

- downloaded newest version of LG OnScreen onto mac... I could open it, but no prompt for firmware update

- changed "USB upstream" from USB-B to USB-C under Settings > General in the monitor. This caused OnScreen Control to prompt me that a firmware update was available!

- but when I tried to follow the prompt to install the update, nothing would happen. It was hard to tell whether it was doing something in the background or not, but after several tries lasting an hour+ I determined it wasn't doing anything... looks like OnScreen Control does not actually work on Big Sur.

- installed OnScreen Control on a Windows laptop and plugged that laptop into the display. For whatever reason, the Thunderbolt cable that came with the LG would not work on the windows laptop, and I had to use a different USB-C cable. OnScreen Control again prompted with the firmware update. This time there was clear progress as I installed, and installation was successful.

Hope this helps anyone having similar problems.
