From the product page, it seems the NITRO+ Vega cards has a different fan management system than most. One thing you can check quickly is the connect the Razer Core X fan to the 4-pin PWM header on the card. My guess it that it won't run. I'd recommend checking with Sapphire support for assistance. Also try both vBIOS and see if that makes a difference.

Rather than hunting and searching the forum, gettting old info or getting the wrong direction. Can you share a link for vBIOS haven’t seen or heard of that one.

by the way... thanks for the fast reply!

The vBIOS switch is on top of the GPU near the mounting bracket.

Hi DJMic you can edit the info.plist in the good kext (system/library/extensions/AMD10000controller.kext) and use a soft power table editor to change some setting of the card without flashing a new bios.
Before I have got this problem too and without fans my custom watercooling vega strix 64 was going to 70°c, now i have an iddle temp of 28°c with the fans at 700 rpm and in load my card doesn't go more than 48°c with fans at 2000 rpm.
I give you a link in an external forum of hackintosh which explain all of the things and its work for egpu user too, at the end of the thread you can show what settings work for me.

I hope this thing will help you and others, sorry at the moment i have not the time to do a good tutorial step by step.

Can I ask you what "soft power table editor" is on the Mac?

Its only in windows side but you can make the soft power table in it and import it in mac os.

Would "TextWrangler" for Mac work for editing the AMD10000controller.kext file?
Never mind after reading the GitHub info it looks like this is a specific editor in Windows for the kext file.

You wouldn't know what ideal settings i should put in for this particular setup on Mac with eGPU?

To edit the kext in osx you can use kext utility to open the AMD10000controller.kext  and modify the info.plist in it.
https://mac.softpedia.com/get/System-Utilities/Kext-Utility.shtml
After you need a power table which you insert in your info.plist and to do this you need windows and the soft (vega64SoftPowerTableEditor).
For the moment i can't do a workaround with pics and tips but i have got a Vega 64 strix and its aproximatively the same setting of your card, if you want i give you my last info.plist and you can try with it.
Min temp 28°
Target 48° ( i use watercooling on it)
Min fan speed 750 rpm

To use kext utility:

- Open the soft and wait until it verify and repair the permission
- It say drag a file to open it
- Select the AMD 10000controller.kext (in system/library/extensions )
- After you see a .bak extension in the kext and it take a form of a file
- Open it and in content replace the info.plist with my file (Before save your own info.plist in your mac )
- remove the.bak extension and press enter
- Quit Kext utility and lauch it again to repair the permission
- Reboot your mac and test if it work ( i use luxmark)

Give me some news if its ok for you.
