Hi All,

I've just received my Mantis Venues, however I've yet to decide which to go for..

the 1080Ti or the most powerful from ATI.

I'm looking into maximizing the ability of thunderbolt3 via Egpu, I've read that ATI has the better part in terms of compatibility yet Nvidia produce more raw power.

Any suggestion would much very much appreciated, thank you.

If you don't mind the hassle setting up in Windows, I would vote for 1080Ti. If you only wanna to use it in MacOS, go for AMD, Apple has native support in High Sierra. However, the gaming experience I got on MacOS isn't great, even with an external screen, so I would still go with 1080Ti if you wanna game.

Go Radeon, Nvidia drivers are quite bugged and performance mixed. AMD Radeon Metal drivers rocks.

Will I be able to do the headless hdmi adapter with AMD card?

What does it mean: headless HDMI adapter?

Regarding AMD GPU choices - if you can find - Fury Nano or RX580 Limited Edition (8pin+6pin power connectors, highest clocks)

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.

HDMI headless adapter is a workaround to force the eGPU accelerate internal display of a MacBook or iMac.

What's the current support of AMD Vega, I read the price is way higher than a 1080TI

Considering the iMacs will have Vega GPUs, it should be supported by macOS via eGPU as well.

Also, the RX 580 isn't powerful compared to what Vega might be, as well as Nvidia's top consumer cards. I have a feeling Apple might add a more expensive eGPU offering that has Vega bundled.

Apple does what Apple does... we simply have wait and see.

My concern with Mantiz is that they are not currently listed on AMD website. This is Mantiz has to work with AMD.
