Hi!

How is it going? I come to ask for help regarding a weird glitch that occurs anytime I try to use MacOS under eGPU. Everything works perfect, even games, but when I move the mouse over -for example- the border of a window and the cursor changes its shape from the arrow to the <->, the direction is altered. Imagine you are moving the mouse over the environment; whenever the cursor changes its shape there's a variation on the direction so you end up using the system with weird mouse movements. Has anyone experience the same under MacOS Sierra. I tried different web drivers and it is always the same.

My setup:
- MacOS Sierra 10.12.6
- MacBook Pro 13 2016 nTB
- eGPU Gigabyte Aorus 1070

Things to have in mind:
- Everything else works good.
- eGPU under Windows is perfect.
- It happens with the external mouse, the touchpad, a Wacom... it is input hardware-independent.
- I could record a video but maybe you won't notice anything. It is very noticeable -and frustrating- while you use the system.

Thanks in advance!

Odd. Lag was usually reported with multiple displays and the setting "Displays have separate spaces" turned on. Try turning it off anyway and see what happens.

I tried what you've said with no luck. But I've tried using Heaven Benchmark running at the background and the problem dissapears. Then I stop the benchmark and it happens again. I checked de eGPU usage and it is accelerating with or without benchmark. Weird, is it?

Thanks in advance.

What kind of display do you have?

I know macOS Nvidia drivers have issues with setting the mouse cursor on 4K MST displays or 5K dual link SST displays where the left half and the right half of the display are controlled by different signals. The cursor becomes out of sync, so that the wrong or previous cursor is displayed instead of the expected cursor. The cursor becomes different for each half of the display. You can see both cursors when the cursor is in the middle of the screen.

Hi, I got a Dell U2715h. It is 2K and I didn’t have the phenomenon you describe. In this case is not related to screen halves but with changes in the cursor’s shape. Thanks!

A recording of the phenomena might be useful. You would need an external camera like from a cell phone or iPad since a screen capture is not likely to capture glitches with the cursor.
