Hi. I would like to know if there is a possibility of changing the AMD driver kext in macOS Catalina to modify parameters of a PowerColor REd Devil Vega 56  8GB ram in order to overclock it. Always in macOS.

I've already tried it with Win10 (Bootcamp) and in this graphic card you can overclock the frequency up to 1722, and memory up to 975 (mine has Samsung memory) and it runs stable (I did all kind of benchmarks in Time Spy Extreme, FireStrike Extreme, Unigine Superposition, and even Cryengine Neon Noir.

The issue is I'm running a Razer Core with a MacBook Pro 2017 13" BTO. Everything worked OK, but I have only 256 GB SSD, so I was always constricted by the space. also I grown tired of Windows and its updates. I only installed BootCAmp with reFind in order to try the overclocking possibilities of that graphic card. I also have another eGPU setup (Mantiz Venus + Sapphire Nitro Vega 56, sadly Hynix memory, so I can't go up 900 mhz, or try to change the bios)

I want to be able to overclock in macOS, (Not to the degree of Windows with the aid of AMD Adrenalin drivers). I've been reading hackintosh forums. I've downloaded VGTab and other utilities, but I don't know how to inject or change the kexts. I have little experience in mackintosh but I'm a fast learner.

If someone could give me some pointers to a detailed tutorial I would appreciate.

Thanks a lot!

Hi again. I reply myself. Perhaps I've not been clear.

I'm reading Hackintosh forums and there's a way to modify AMD graphic cards values through an application called VCTab. This app simplifies the PowerPlayTable, and generate an Hex file, or I think generates a kext.

In Hackintosh (I'm not an experienced user, I'm just trying to see if there's a possibility) You inject that kext later using Clover, or using other methods described here

https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-injection-of-amd-vega-power-and-fan-control-properties.267519/

OK. That is in the hackintsoh world.

I would like to know if you can do that in macOS Mojave, or macOS Catalina. I have two eGPU setups coupled with two MacBooks Pro. You can see one of my builds here. I will post my another eGPU build soon.

I would like to have the possibility to overclock/modify my Vega 56 parameters, and not using BootCamp.

Is it possible? Any answer, feedback or some pointer would be appreciated.

Ps: I just don't know how to change/inject a kext in macOS running in native mode in my  MacBook Pro.

Again, many thanks, and I'd love a simple answer. Yes or No.
