Have anybody tried parallels 15 with egpu and have some info on performance vs boot camp? Since parallels 15 work with dx 11, it would be interesting to know more about how it performs.

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.

@excubitoro I've reached out to them for more details [Metal to DirectX 11] but have not heard back. In the meantime, I tested with an RX 480 4GPU eGPU + 2019 13" MacBook Pro running 10.15 Catalina Beta 5 and can't say the performance is anything to write home about.

@excubitoro

I have only run it once since upgrading (due to issues I was having with Parallels prior to the update my boot camp Win10 install has activation issues when run as a VM and I don't want to invalidate my boot camp windows key right now), but I was able to successfully run 3DMark Fire Strike in Parallels 15:

Here is a run on the same hardware in native bootcamp:

FPS is about a third  to a quarter what it is in native windows, it's still about twice as fast as the Iris Plus 655 in windows though.  They said in their release info that performance and compatibility should improve with Catalina.

Too bad. I was hoping it will work well so I could exchange my 1070 by a Vega 64 and get rid of my bootcamp partition for good.
It seems we will need to keep rebooting our Macs for gaming.
