@mkzayar, Did you get anywhere with a card exchange? I see overclockers had some Asrock, Sapphire and Powercolor AMD reference design cards in at the moment https://www.overclockers.co.uk/pc-components/graphics-cards/amd/radeon-rx-6900-xt-series

Morning @philw. OCUK issued me RMA number and they have received my card by yesterday. I got emailed back from them by saying it will take 5 working days to test the card. I am not sure why and no idea how long will it take to get my money back. But there are a few issue as well because I bought it with finance and 1 year complete protection against theft, robbery, burglary, damage due to falling, breakage and liquid damage as well.

Did not think I will be in this position. I thought I have 30 days windows to return item but both Finance and Protection Insurance from OCUK is only 14 days. I emailed to Protection Insurance yesterday providing RMA no and explained my situation and lucky they emailed me back my request is 14 days so they will cancel my insurance and refund it. Very lucky because I bought the card on 2nd June. But finance will be issue because it is over 14 days as of today but was able to speak with a person from finance yesterday. According to them they might charged me but I will need to open a complaint so they will talk with OCUK. Problem is I cannot cancel or withdraw from my side. Only OCUK can do that in this case.

Now I am a little scare because  I deposit 900£ and OCUK need to refund it to me and they need to sort the finance issue from there side.

Thank you very much for reminding me and I am willing to buy this https://www.overclockers.co.uk/gigabyte-aorus-radeon-rx-6900-xt-16gb-master-16gb-gddr6-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-1da-gi.html . I can buy now but no idea whether I should wait till I got my £900 back and finance problem sorted ?

@mkzayar, Yep tricky!

If there was a clean slate and no complications with RMAs, cash/finance etc I would have recommended

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/sapphire-radeon-rx-6900-xt-mba-16gb-gddr6-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-39e-sp.html

or

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/powercolor-radeon-rx-6900-xt-mba-16gb-gddr6-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-1a0-pc.html

or

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asrock-radeon-rx-6900-xt-mba-16gb-gddr6-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-00f-ak.html

Based on the AMD reference design and therefore should be no "surprises" !

🙂

@philw. Thank you for the list. So you think the one I mentioned (  https://www.overclockers.co.uk/gigabyte-aorus-radeon-rx-6900-xt-16gb-master-16gb-gddr6-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-1da-gi.html ) can cause same issue like before ?

Lol I am choosing the gigabyte one based of @kid XTXH list.

Lucky me to find this forum. Otherwise I will be in much trouble again and again.

@mkzayar, Just saying keep it simple if there's an opportunity 🙂

First time I've seen reference card designs in stock for many, many months.

Hi,

I just got my Powercolor Red Devil 6900 XT

Then a Razer Core X, because my Sonnet Breakaway 650 couldn't fit it despite Apple qualifies it.

And a 8-pin cable splitter, because the PSU only has two power connectors and the card needs three.

But it's not working in my iMac Pro on Big Sur 11.4.

The card starts but then only one of the fans stays on.
There's no video signal coming out, and Mac OS sees it as a generic "Display" by AMD.

Tried changing TB cables, swithing the power connectors, restart or hot-swap... I get a warning if i disconnect it but neither the OS nor Davinci Resolve see it as a usable GPU.

Any help please?
THANKS!!

@guillem_g, if it’s the PowerColor Red Devil AMD Radeon™ RX 6900 XT Ultimate 16GB unfortunately it’s one of six cards that currently aren’t supported.

@mkzayar, Just saying keep it simple if there's an opportunity Smile

First time I've seen reference card designs in stock for many, many months.

Thanks a lot @philw. I will buy the sapphire from your list.

Hey @Guillem G     , welcome onboard. I was lonely here now got you Grin sorry for the joke

According to @kid , you are in my situation. The following is what he explained to me which you can find on page 24.

@mkzayar, PowerColor only uses XTXH on two of its 6900XT models. Beside chip, frequency, and product name, everything else is exactly the same as XTX models. You are lucky to get one of these in the current market but unluckily macOS doesn't support them yet.

Currently there are 6 XTXH models on the market:

1) ASRock AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT OC Formula 16GB

2) ASUS ROG-STRIX-LC- RX6900XT -T16G-GAMING

3) Gigabyte AORUS Radeon™ RX 6900 XT XTREME WATERFORCE WB 16G

4) PowerColor Liquid Devil AMD Radeon™ RX 6900 XT Ultimate 16GB GDDR6

5) PowerColor Red Devil AMD Radeon™ RX 6900 XT Ultimate 16GB GDDR6

6) Sapphire TOXIC AMD Radeon™ RX 6900 XT Extreme Edition

with

ASUS ROG-STRIX-LC- RX6900XT -T16G-GAMING is visually identical to ASUS ROG-STRIX-LC- RX6900XT -O16G-GAMING

PowerColor Liquid Devil AMD Radeon™ RX 6900 XT Ultimate 16GB GDDR6 is visually identical to PowerColor Liquid Devil AMD Radeon™ RX 6900 XT 16GB GDDR6

PowerColor Red Devil AMD Radeon™ RX 6900 XT Ultimate 16GB GDDR6 is visually identical to PowerColor Red Devil AMD Radeon™ RX 6900 XT 16GB GDDR6

Sapphire TOXIC AMD Radeon™ RX 6900 XT Extreme Edition is visually identical to Sapphire TOXIC AMD Radeon™ RX 6900 XT Limited Edition (#SKU#: 11308-06-20G) and Sapphire TOXIC AMD Radeon™ RX 6900 XT Limited Edition (#SKU#: 11308-04-20G, replaces one DisplayPort with USB-C)

Hope this helps anyone buying a 6900XT . If anyone want to sell their currently unusable XTXH for cheap then DM me. LoL

I bought no 6 Toxic Extreme, then I was in trouble. The card is so good, you know I was able to test it on Bootcamp on 2013 iMac. It was running 2800/2850MHz. Damn good.

Shame , I couldn't able to use the card on my 2020 iMac even on Bootcamp. it is showing but with error code. It only work on 2013 iMac Bootcamp.

I am sure Red Devil is using Navi 21 XTXH instead of XTX which is a pain for you and me. How do we know which one is what and all we see is RX 6900XT but lucky to meet @kid and because of him, now it is clear how to avoid. If you card is one of his list then you will need to return it quickly. There is no support ETA from Apple. I have tried to APPLE, AMD, SAPPHIRE answer is contact to APPLE which is running around with my case no. I am still chasing for that.

So return it as quick as you can to use with your iMac Pro. No point of waiting Apple.

Just found out a website which anyone can check which cards are using which chipset

ie.

https://skinflint.co.uk/powercolor-radeon-rx-6900-xt-red-devil-axrx-6900xt-16gbd6-3dhe-oc-a2451112.html

https://skinflint.co.uk/powercolor-radeon-rx-6900-xt-red-devil-ultimate-axrx-6900xtu-16gbd6-3dhe-oc-a2510147.html

If you see CHIP: XTX then it is currently support to use with Mac. But if you see XTXH just RUN . . . . . . :p
