After seeing that macOS got support for RX 6000 series I got very excited as I'm stuck on Intel Macs due to work, and I decided to give an eGPU setup a try. Recently I ordered a Razer Core X and a XFX's RX 6700 XT  GPU. After both parts got delivered and got these on my setup, as soon as I plugged in the Thunderbolt cable, I have found out that does not works on my MacBook Pro .

I'm currently running in the latest macOS Big Sur 11.4 (Build 20F71) on my MacBook Pro 15" 2017 with Touch Bar and dedicated graphics Raedon Pro 555/2GB.

Does anyone have found a solution/workaround for this?

Or, does anyone knows about a solution anywhere on the web?

No. Apple needs to implement drivers. It’s always recommended that you do your research before purchasing equipment and read official documentation on what’s supported. Hopefully Navi22 gets support in a later version of macOS.

I thought only a few Mac version are obsoleted and I was wrong. Sapphire RX 6900 XT is also obsoleted. I am still trying to buy RX 6900 XT. But I cannot believe my eyes when I saw this on Scan.co.uk

END OF LIFE ?

Thanks @philw. I also sent an email to Sapphire and asked about EOL. Got a reply this morning that it is not EOL and they are still selling.

LOL Stupid Scan made me scare to buy Sapphire Graphic Card.

I bought Sapphire reference card as you suggest but had a bad coil whine noise. Had to sent it back. I started looking around internet and many people are talking and moaning about the Coil Whine of AMD reference card.

I am not used to with the coil whine and make me upset. Its like a cricket in my room. Terrible noise. Is it normal ?

You are using Powercolor right ? Is your one making noise ?

@mkzayar, yes, every card I have does it at certain loads. Especially noticeable when we are eGPu people unfortunately.

Just a message.

I just got Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6900 XT SE version from Amazon with just £1300 including VAT. incase anyone need. Please make sure the seller must be Amazon EU which is Authorised seller of Sapphire and you will get Warranty. there is 2 nasty private seller on same item and they will pop up when Amazon have out of stock which is over £1700 without any warranty.

The link is here.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08Y81WFF7/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A30DC7701CXIBH&psc=1

I think the price is OK to buy. Also this is XTX card because I did confirmed with Sapphire. My ticket from Sapphire is just disappeared I think because of it's been a while.

I am 99% sure this is XTX and not XTXH.

@poptonez, My guess would be that the W6800 ID isn't in the Mac driver yet (guess, as first time I've seen anyone having got their hands on the new cards - I have no idea what the OS sees as a diffference from a normal 6800/XT). Possibly coming in 11.5? (Guess) - maybe as some kind of official announcement for the latest card options for the Mac Pro.

WOw. I was about to jump to buy 😛

Lucky it's not available in UK market yet.

Will it be better than 6900xt ? I have two egpu and one is empty. Thinking to buy another 6800xt or W6800.

seems need to wait bit more than expect. But how come W6800 is showing up on Geekbench though?
