I saw this https://9to5mac.com/2017/11/27/egpu-amd-rx-vega-64-macos-high-sierra-beta-gpu-video/
And wondering will I have any problem with power requirement if I change to this card?(Sapphire Radeon RX Vega 64)
I have the mantiz Venus as well.
Anybody have the blower at full speed problem with the latest beta?

Mantiz officially supports up to Vega 56, perhaps you want to consider that instead...

that is what I'm aware of until I come across this link above that seems to be fine with vega64, which I'm not very convinced.
I just found out on the video itself looks more like the a Vega 56 while the writings stated Vega 64, strange.

@jpme: To clarify: if you plug Vega 64 to any eGPU enclosure with 550W power supply, it will light up, but no guarantees that, for example in the middle of the game the box won't shutdown and disconnect, or the power supply die prematurely, etc. Why do you think Mantiz does not list Vega64?
With that said, if you absolutely need Vega64, then consider upgrading the power supply (decent 650W or higher). That's all

thank you,
will need to route out to another higher power supply.
Plus, vega64 is hard to find lately.

Just to chime in, I currently have a Mantiz Venus and a Powercolor Vega 64. I have never had it shut down on me, even after hours of gaming. That being said, I have changed the Wattman settings a bit so that P6 is the max state...but it's even stable in macOS.

when you mentioned gaming is it on bootcamp or Mac?

I have a Vega64 running on my sonnet eGPU. I initially bought the Sonnet550 box and things would work well half the time. When it worked everything was fine, but sometimes the Vega64 would just shut off. I dealt with that for a week or so when i noticed a post on Sonnet's website about updating the Sonnet550's power supply with a 650 watt power supply. When I made that change it all worked flawlessly.
I should add that there was never any indication that the Sonnet550 wouldn't work. Sometimes it would fail after 10 minutes and another time it failed after a couple of hours.
Late edit, none of this is using bootcamp, all on high sierra latest release build. I don't mess with any of the betas.
Long story short, update your power supply and you should be right as rain.

@dstathop - that's exactly what I was saying all along...

Go Vega 56 or prepare to exchange/upgrade PSU. In my Mantiz Venus I have an Enermax Revolution SFX 650W

Not every PSU/Case/GPU are created equal. You *might* get lucky and get a combo that works with Vega 64 out of the box.
In my Sonnet BB 550, the Vega FE LC worked flawlessly without PSU upgrade, despite the Sonnet saying I need to upgrade PSU.
But keep in mind that, I use this on iMac, so no Power Delivery is needed.
Another thing is that Sonnet lacks extra 'features' that use more power.
Also, the system had issues with 10.13.3. Which seems to be power related, but not in Bootcamp, nor in 10.13.4b5.
The problem I had with stock PSU, isn't stability, it's noisy.
I hated the Enermax as well. Too noisy and no power switch.
I also didn't like always wondering if I had enough power in reserve as the system age, or there is spike power usage.
So, I ended up with going with Seasonic SSR-850TR.. this thing is dead-silent even under full load.
Of course, this PSU is ATX, so I have to leave it sitting next to the BB 550.

On side note.. this PSU 'will' fit inside of BB550... if you are willing to do some modding.
You would need to move the fan a little to the left, drill bunch of vent holes around the PSU opening, and new mount screw holes.
I don't intend to move this around a lot, and full-modular PSU means I can get cables disconnected at PSU side, when I do.
So I didn't bother with modding.
