@allen_frostline Web drivers for Mojave are not available. Hence it doesn't work. The script checks if there is a huge difference in build numbers (such High Sierra driver being used in Mojave) and just provides a recommendation saying that it won't work. Once drivers are available, it'll be fine.

Thanks for the reply! I understand what you mean, but there're a bunch of ppl in the forum saying they're using Mojave (beta) and it's working fine. How're they managing to do that?

@allen_frostline Please provide a link to this fully functional Mojave + High Sierra Web Driver configuration you are mentioning. One can get it working partially (it shows up in Graphics/Displays, About This Mac) but nothing works.

@allen_frostline The only working Nvidia eGPU in macOS 10.14 Mojave is with GTX 780. This graphics card has native drivers in macOS. Newer GeForce GPUs rely on compatible Nvidia web drivers to work. As @mac_editor said, the current web drivers for 10.13.x can be patched to run in 10.14. That doesn’t mean the graphics cards are actually functional.

everything works perfectly ... but after a few days at restart osx ... the system gets stuck when starting ...black screen from apple logos and 100% loading stuck. it only helps to recover from the backup before installing PurgeWrangler. where there might be a problem?

@anafax Have you by chance reset NVRAM/enabled SIP? This would prevent a patched system from booting. SIP must be disabled at all times. Also you need not use a full macOS restore to get up and running - use the script's recovery options as instructed for getting back in instantly. Kudos for keeping backups👌

Update, upgraded my TB2 2015 mbp 13 to mojave public release and fcp 10.4.3. At first after the update the patch deactivated the amd drivers. When i run it to check it updated to a newer version and after setting amd drivers it worked fine.

Performance
Heaven is the same as with beta 41fps Min 26/Max 80 with high settings 2x anti and test on.

FCP works with egpu and uses it for both editing, rendering. With background render off 4k video 3.45min with one transition, one generator one title and broadcast safe filter it exorts to h264 in 3.20 min. 1080p 3.35 min the same footage with all the above is exported in 2.35 min and when i take out the generator is exported in 1.25min. Awesome.
Bruce X is 25sec vs 2 min with internal iris 6100.

Steam games does not work. Is it something you are aware of? I reinstalled it but no luck. Do i need to do anything more. In addition although not relevant my citrix receiver / viewer are struggling with mojave. Is it possible that the patch might affect them ?

The only negative with public release is that compared to beta versions not all apps, especially apple apps, use the egpu automatically however they do when you click the option in finder. Strange.

With high siera there was a patch from eGPU.io to activate all apps at once. I hope they release an update for mojave.

Thank you again for the great work let us know when the set-egpu is ready for mojave.

@tsakal Finding the steam game in Finder and set it's preference using the Get Info window doesn't work? That should - steam games on a Mac are generally a pain. Set-eGPU doesn't search external drives and other locations for apps - just general known ones. Stay tuned for an update. Cannot say about Citrix - unfamiliar.

Please can someone help me with my issues (posted) above,.. have tried several things but my MacBook pro 2015 (10.13.6) does not take advantage of my Titan X. If I run this script it does not boot at all, or if it running crashes if the EGPU is connected to it.
Does updating to Mojave help?

@tsakal
I'm  running the purge-wrangler and purge-nvda script. All I do is start the game as I always had. I didn't have to reinstall anything.
The only reason I run purge nvda is to disable the dGPU and get the external monitor working with my RX580

Script works in Majove (10.14 18A391). RX580 working no problems so far. Font smoothing also working again. Was broken in High Sierra 10.13.6.

If you mean you want to remove the script itself, then remove it from /usr/local/bin. If you also want to remove any other files involved with the script, remove /Application Support/Purge-Wrangler. Remove only on a clean working system, otherwise you won't be able to recover if required (will have to reinstall macOS on top).

Hello!

I have iMac21'5 (late 2012) i7,1tbFD, 16Gb, GT650M + Aorus GB GTX1080.

All methods with Windows were not successful (

I decided to try to dig on the MacOS and again the problems (((

macOS HS 10.13.6:

Installed purge-wrangler.sh for nvidia.

the system sees two nvidia cards (GT650M (dGPU) + GTX1080 (eGPU)).

Two monitors are defined (I use DM + Spectacle)

I have a problem with the error after running games from Steam:

Error

Failed to create GL context: Failed creating OpenGL pixel format!

With the subsequent patch purge-nvda.sh MacOS stops at half load, and if you download without eGPU on the screen there will be brakes and artifacts.

Is there any solution?

@research777 unfortunately in your case since there is no intel GPU, purge-nvda won’t work. Because of this only Metal API works on the 1080, hence the error message. Unfortunately I do not have an NVIDIA based Mac to do some experimentation, so I’m afraid there isn’t much you can do but hope to get Windows working.

@research777 An AMD eGPU should work fine in Windows and fine in macOS iff no external displays are used with your iMac.

thanks for the advice!
I already thought about it.
but while I was wasting a lot of time experimenting with the attempt to launch eGPU, the deadline for returning the goods has already passed (
Really other variants to launch my configuration are not present?
I have long been tormented by this inspired by the successful launch of this configuration by mrgeque :
https://egpu.io/forums/builds/2012-imac-21-5-3-5ghz-i7-16gb-ram-1tb-hd-akitio-node-gtx-1080ti/
but this guy has not been on the forum for a long time and I still have not learned the detailed instructions how he did it (

the maximum I achieved this definition of eGpu, it's quite simple.
but as soon as the nvidia drivers are installed (for eGPU), after restarting the iMac, at startup Windows displays a blue screen with an error (

PurgeWrangler 5 is live, and brings significant improvements to script user experience and more:

  • Support for Ti82 enclosures
  • Ability to manage preferences for prompts
  • Automatic notifications for macOS update re-patching
  • Automatic input processing (no need to press enter every time)
  • Backup refreshing
  • More integral backups
  • Under-the-hood refinements and improvements
  • Minor bug fixes

For users of older versions: updating is easy. Just run it and you'll see a prompt to update.

PSA: NVIDIA eGPU users should not update to Mojave as of now as NVIDIA has not made web drivers available yet.

@mac_editor @anafax
please help
i have exactly the same set up with Mojave 10.14. After over a week of perfect operation today, after I used a it with a different monitor also with display port over the weekend, this morning after starting up the gaming box would not wake up. However when I insert the tb2 cable on my laptop I hear a click in the box but nothing happens. Also after leaving it for 15 min like this the box gets warm so something is happening.  I tried to uninstall and reinstall the patch with no success. I tried like the first I used it to start it up with my friends dell XPs 13 and it worked fine, I even run a cinebench. But again no reaction when used with the MacBook Pro, although the click happens every time. The second time I woke it up with the xps I reinstalled the patch before connecting . The gaming box appears under Thunderbolt. Finally since the first time I set it up I installed dirt rally from the App Store  and a game from steam which played fine last night. I ejected the egpu logged out shut down everything and this morning nothing. The monitor I use in the office is a dell u2913wm and at home over the weekend a lg 29um69 g with freesync

I am using a suko adaptor with a switch. How is this cable gonna help.
I upgraded to v5 but still no luck. Uninstalled and installed v5 with no luck.
my guess is that the box is expecting a power draw from the tb3 to get started and as the tb2 does not draw any power i does not wake up. Does this make sense? However it was working for 10 days in diffferent scenarios laptop on/off overnight box mainly off overnight once i forgot it plugged. Never experienced any problem. The only thing that changed is the switch of monitors and the dirt rally game which apparently is accessing the system to optimize its settings.
