Thank you so much for making this!
I'm running a 980ti with Razer Core X, and this script has worked wonderfully.
However I see some of you have a GPU disconnect tool up on your status bar on top.. However I do not see that option.

The only way for me to plug/unplug my GPU is to shut down my computer before each plug/pull. Or else my Mac freezes

Could anyone let me know if I could possible run this on my 2017 imac? Or will it be too tricky to set up?

I have an RX580 inside iMac but wanted some extra performance for 3d rendering and Bootcamp games if poss.

Hi Guys!
I have a problem with my setup.
I own a Mac Mini from 2012 (Core i5, 16 gb Ram) and a Gigabyte AORUS GTX 1070 Gaming Box. Connected via a Thunderbolt adapter from Apple (TB2 to TB3).
The egpu is recognized and runs under MacOS. (Thanks to the work of fr34k!)
But unfortunately I have no sound. The egpu is connected via display port (DP to Hdmi) with my TV. With a connection via Hdmi (Hdmi to Hdmi) I also have no success.
I hope somebody can help me. Many Thanks!

Greetings from Germany!

First I should thank fr34k for making this script. However I have a problem with my setup.
I just updated my iMac (2017, 21.5 with dGPU) to 10.13.6 and used this script, then booted up without eGPU, then plugged it in at login screen. The external monitor lit up but only shows mouse cursor. Help please?

Setup 1: Apple iMac 2017 21.5” 4K + eGPU
dGPU: AMD Radeon Pro 560
eGPU: ASUS Strix AMD Radeon Vega 56 via Thunderbolt 3 (AKiTiO Node)
OS: macOS Catalina 10.15.3, Windows 10 1809, Kali Linux 2020.1
Setup 2: Apple Mac mini 2018 + eGPU
iGPU: Intel UHD Graphics 630
eGPU: AMD Radeon RX 570 MXM via Thunderbolt 3 (Sonnet Breakaway Puck)
OS: macOS Catalina 10.15.4 Beta, Windows 10 1909

Go to system preferences and instead of mirroring the internal display extend it. This would happen if the external display is of lower max resolution than the internal one. If the external is 1080p then if you try to mirror the 2k internal display sometime you get a black screen.

Also, if you are booting into the mac  you can keep the egpu plugged in and then boot.

Can I ask a question please about internal displays?

I have a 2017 iMac, and soon to arrive Razer Core X + Vega 64 card.

Will I still need the Set eGPU script to accelerate the internal 5k display? Or will Apples recent updates and support for AMD eGPU's take care of that.

Would really appreciate any help with this and possibly getting it set up in Bootcamp.

Thanks. Jen.

@piranhaco

You have 10.13.6!!! NO EGPU ENABLER REQUIRED!!
ONLY: DRIVER + IO PCIE TUNNELED PATCH + maybe CUDA, NOTHING ELSE!

NEWBIE: Got the external display working, but VERY lagged, highlight or click on something takes 3-4 seconds to update (refresh). Can anyone advise what the possible resolve if any is.

2017 MBP 15" 10.13.6 High Sierra, TB3, Akitio Node, MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Ti, Monster Ultimate HDMI cable, Acer 1080p HDMI display.

@djmc  https://egpu.io/forums/mac-setup/script-enable-egpu-on-tb1-2-macs-on-macos-10-13-4/paged/22/#post-42121

Or use automate-eGPU EFI.

But this is not a TB1/2 ?? It's thunderbolt 3, and it's working... just very lagged.

@djmic That script does everything too (this issue is not about scripts anyway). Also see the link - it's actually about a TB3 Mac (see previous posts by the user in the thread).
