i got a core v2 today and planing to pair it with macOS 10.13.6

i found some questions and I'm asking if someone has these same issues
and if there are some solutions plz?

1. hot plugging core v2 on rmbp, the graphic card starts to work (vega64)
but usb-hub, LAN port and the LED stripes do not work until next restart (with core v2 attached)
cold boot with core attached is good but hot plug only drives the card
2. LAN port is extremely vulnerable that when i draw 2 different files from my home server to desktop it drop to Zero KB/s
eg. Steam game downloading speed drop from 40MB/s to 0MB/s in few seconds. Network preferences shows network is good but factually, it disconnected, or may i say the Lan Port is not responding

is somebody have same/familiar issues? is there any chance to fix it? or i just send the core v2 back and turn back to core v1
after all v1 just needs a fix of IOThunderboltFamily.kext

1) I can't vouch for the behavior of the core v2 with a fully functioning video card inside in MacOS, I have an rtx 2080 in mine now.  I do use it as the world's most expensive usb hub in MacOS tho with the video card inert.  I usually boot with the egpu attached and haven't had any issues with the usb devices.  The LED light settings are controlled by the Windows version of Synapse 2.0 only, but they persist after reboots as well. It is possible the enclosure is doing things differently when it actually sees a macos compatible video card installed.

2) The ASIX ethernet drivers do not work 100 percent properly in MacOS.  The workaround I have found is to go into settings then network, click on the ASIX88179, go to the hardware settings tab, and force the adapter to connect at 100 Mbit.  There was recently an updated driver which worked properly at gigabit without dropping, but it caused a significant amount of background cpu activity at all times.  They pulled the driver and the current one on their website has the original gigabit issues.

thanks for replying

i just wonder that why hot plug a v1 is fully functional including usb and ethernet and lights

but v2 just the card is working

and when i using v1 ASIX88179 is doing very well

but after i updated the driver of ethernet of v2 is still unusable

speed is essential that i am a post-editor

*ps:V2.13.0 of ASIX official page

may i ask if there is any issues that
-boot into macOS without core V2
-hot plug V2
-see if usb ports, ethernet and LED lights is working?

If you dig deep enough in Razer's support documentation for the v2, they do say that the ethernet and lights are not supported officially in MacOS.  The USB ports are though, so it might be possible to contact Razer about the ports not working on hotplug.  It's possible there is a defect with your Core v2.

The only usb issue I've had in MacOS is the mac synapse software does not configure my razer mouse properly and I have to unplug and re-connect my mouse to get the dpi settings to stick.

Also those 2.13 drivers are the same ones I am using currently, gimme a min to see if I have the older ones in my download folder still.

Ok, I just rebooted to MacOS Mojave 14.0, hot plugged my Core v2.  My USB devices fired up immediately (Mouse+Keyboard, External HD, My Monitor and a 4 port usb-a hub with a thumb drive attached).  Core v2 lights came on doing the same pattern as when I was booted into windows.

Edit: Doesn't look like the forum will allow me to post a dmg.

thanks for testing that!

im already in progress of installing Mojave on an external ssd and have a try whether software causes the problems

If so, I may need a clean install of Mojave after nvidia releases the web driver

As to me

mojave seems everything good except the Ethernet during first hot plug after a cold boot

but when I detach egpu, pull it out and pull in again, not everything come to alive

i tested several times
Mostly they start to sleep after first detach

I had a long correspondence with ASIX about their drivers - same symptom: after a few seconds, throughput drops dramatically, both on LAN and WAN connections (connecting via Thunderbolt ethernet gave me a consistent 900Mb/s symmetrical on my net connection, the ASIX drivers started at the same throughput, then plummeted to c.300Mb/s and stayed there. After giving them feedback on beta drivers, the latest ones available on the ASIX web site seem somewhat better, but still far from matching a native network connection. This is disappointing, as a large part of my motive in buying a Core v2 was to single-cable everything from my MBP.

Unfortunately I cannot fully test this on my system because I don't have the disconnect egpu widget, it might be related to the safe removal process?

Are these the 2.13 drivers from their website?  300mbit would be better than 100 for me, but when I just set the adapter for gigabit I still lose all connectivity after a couple minutes. One solution I have considered is just getting a usb to gigabit ethernet adapter using a different chipset, and plugging it into one of the core v2 ports or the hub I have attached to it.

The very same reason of choosing core

also size and light seems important to me

Now that it might be a miracle that v1 has a stable network connection, isn’t it

Maybe. It doesn’t matter because nvidia cards can only be removed by shutting down

i borrow this vega64 from my friend

finally 1080ti will return lol

But the ethernet problem can’t be solved by now? Btw I do have usb ethernet cards but it only comes with 65MB/s and sometimes not enough for work
