Some issues about Core v2 with macOS
I had a long correspondence with ASIX about their drivers - same symptom: after a few seconds, throughput drops dramatically, both on LAN and WAN connections (connecting via Thunderbolt ethernet gave me a consistent 900Mb/s symmetrical on my net connection, the ASIX drivers started at the same throughput, then plummeted to c.300Mb/s and stayed there. After giving them feedback on beta drivers, the latest ones available on the ASIX web site seem somewhat better, but still far from matching a native network connection. This is disappointing, as a large part of my motive in buying a Core v2 was to single-cable everything from my MBP.
Are these the 2.13 drivers from their website? 300mbit would be better than 100 for me, but when I just set the adapter for gigabit I still lose all connectivity after a couple minutes. One solution I have considered is just getting a usb to gigabit ethernet adapter using a different chipset, and plugging it into one of the core v2 ports or the hub I have attached to it.
The very same reason of choosing core
also size and light seems important to me
Now that it might be a miracle that v1 has a stable network connection, isn’t it
may i ask if there is any issues that
-boot into macOS without core V2
-hot plug V2
-see if usb ports, ethernet and LED lights is working?
Ok, I just rebooted to MacOS Mojave 14.0, hot plugged my Core v2. My USB devices fired up immediately (Mouse+Keyboard, External HD, My Monitor and a 4 port usb-a hub with a thumb drive attached). Core v2 lights came on doing the same pattern as when I was booted into windows.
Edit: Doesn't look like the forum will allow me to post a dmg.
As to me
mojave seems everything good except the Ethernet during first hot plug after a cold boot
but when I detach egpu, pull it out and pull in again, not everything come to alive
i tested several times
Mostly they start to sleep after first detach
Unfortunately I cannot fully test this on my system because I don't have the disconnect egpu widget, it might be related to the safe removal process?
Maybe. It doesn’t matter because nvidia cards can only be removed by shutting down
i borrow this vega64 from my friend
finally 1080ti will return lol
But the ethernet problem can’t be solved by now? Btw I do have usb ethernet cards but it only comes with 65MB/s and sometimes not enough for work
I too have the non working V2 ethernet with my V2, I changed the speed to 1oombit and its working, hoping a new update is released the one on the website doesn't work for gigabit.
@ningauble77 any chance you still have the older driver, it used to work but with increased cpu activity, ill take that over my current 100mbit bottleneck.
not sure if anyone has reported this, but gigabit is working for me now, I don't know what I did, I have been running the latest driver from there website. https://www.asix.com.tw/download.php?sub=driverdetail&PItemID=131, when I installed it in December it stopped working on gigabit, and was forced to use 10/100. today I came back to the forums looking for an update, I then decided to switch back to gigabit and to my surprise its working. was there a update that im not recalling?
Well that was short lived, after a few minutes it stopped working again, sorry for jumping the gun. I thought it was working, before it would almost immediately stop working, but this time it worked for five minutes before internet connection dropped.
New Update came out recently for the ethernet adapter found on the Razer Core V2 https://www.asix.com.tw/download.php?sub=driverdetail&PItemID=131
Version 2.16, for me it didnt fix the issue but maybe others will have success.
