Another potential issue would be badly seated GPU in the PCI slot.
I had this happen with my RTX.Try re-seating your GPU.

This could be the case and makes for good troubleshooting.

I am on OSX Mojave 10.14.2. Still waiting on support for OSX Side, however; here is my results for Bootcamp side with Windows 10:
- MacBook Pro 2017 4 USB-C ports
- Razer Core V2 with Nvidia RTX 2080
When booting into Windows, you have to plug in the eGPU right when you see the windows logo. Then everything works just fine and it plays every game I have with no issues (Fortnite, OverWatch, Call of Duty Black Ops 4, etc).
Just in case anyone else was curious about this type of setup. Mojave shouldn't break Bootcamp. I can't wait for support though on the OSX Side.

Running the latest version of Windows 10 with bootcamp getting 100+ fps in most modern games.
Patiently waiting for Nvidia drivers. All I want is to extend my desktop to two monitors through the eGPU. One cord to rule them all, but I won't hold my breath...
I was told yesterday by a Genius tech at an Apple Store that I could use the new eGPU Blackmagic Pro with a Thunderbolt 3-to-2 adapter and significantly speed up times in FCPX on my Mac Pro 2013.
Thoughts?

not natively support.
I am far from familiar with eGPUs, but this seems to have worked for at least this guy: https://postperspective.com/review-using-egpu-apple-macbook-pro-thunderbolt-2/

.@j_m the user in that article uses macOS 10.13.3 - outdated even though the article is fairly recent. Since macOS 10.13.4+, purge-wrangler is necessary on TB1/2 Macs, hence it is not natively supported anymore.

Just to confirm, will the eGPU you propose work under Mojave 10.14.2?

.I have read a loads of forum threads, and tutorials, you guys did a really great job, but the more I read the more I became frustrated 😛
I have a 2016 macbook pro 15"
What is an ideal enclosure and graphics card for me to use it in bootcamp and mac os too (gaming on win, coding on mac)?
I have Mojave, and I always was an NVIDA "supporter".
I can buy a Razer Core V0.1 or a devilbox for 330$ in Hungary, but as far as I know neither of them is fully compatible with mac!
I'm thinking about other enclosures too, can you help, with the current Mojave+Win which is the best?
Favored graphics card is: gtx 1080, but support is a big deal here too.
I can't choose, can you help me? 🙁

Hi, I have OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 running on a late 2014 Mac mini, attached to that a custom built eGpu with an ATI Radeon HD 5000 2048 MB (Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity Edition (GV-R5876P-2GD-B) 2 GB GDDR5) and 6 screens attached to it via Mini DP.
It was a lot of work and as regards OS settings / driver modifications, I cannot remember anymore how exactly I did it (2 or 3 years ago). Something with an identification string which I had to inject into a file inside the driver, but that's been too far in the past, sorry. And the 500 entries in the command line history aren't enough either. It's working flawlessly though.
I'm scared to update to OSX Mojave as I've heard that it only TB3 is supported.
Can anyone point me to the answers of the following questions?
- How can I gather the necessary information in order to redo the configuration (let's say under El Capitan) which allows me my current setup? I'd like to post-document everything
- How can I find out, which driver is currently being used?
- If I update and replay what I did so far then under OSX Mojave, will this setup work again?
- If the solution is only a newer Mac with TB3, what Graphics adapter with what eGpu can I use in order to serve 6 screens again?
Thanks in advance for your patience with me
