Wanna make sure i'm doing this right ahead of time. First post.
So I am just waiting on my enclosure to come in the mail in the next day or two. I have been very diligent on this site (which is AMAZING) and have pretty much read every build out there.
My only concern is that I just want to make sure the downloads are up to date (mainly the alln1 installer) I just can't seem to find anyone recent that has mentioned anything with the newest mojave build (10.14.2)
I plan on only using this is Mac OS X for FCP X
Any tips before i embark on this journey would be greatly appreciated. This Forum is awesome and i wouldnt have purchased what i did if i didnt find out what i did i here. Thanks everyone!
@dabsanddrums Welcome aboard! Disable SIP in Recovery mode then run Purge-Wrangler and you should be good to go. I have ran 10.14.5 Beta 3 on a 2013 Mac Pro and RX 580 eGPU remains working great with Purge-Wrangler. For more details here is an overview of eGPU in macOS Mojave.
Awesome! Thank you so much @itsage I embark on my journey tomorrow morning.
I guess my last question is, after I write the script with purge wrangler am I supposed to reenable SIP? Or I think I saw it could be done if you add another script in terminal before you reenable. I could be dead wrong.
Leave SIP disabled. As long as you follow the installation and usage instructions of Purge-Wrangler, it should work well.
Man! Night and day difference over here! Ill post my full build log very very soon, but suffice it to say this forum has made this such a pleasurable experience.
Simply put, I was up and running in less than 10 min (including putting the card in the enclosure), After i ran the purge wrangler it read my rx580 immediately on reboot, I immediately noticed a difference in a final cut pro x timeline ive been working on, playback, full screen, with heavy effects (boris continuum and red giant suites) was a bit of a breeze. First luxmark scores were roughly 3500 with the iGPU and 15000 with the egpu.
Full report to come! (running internal display, and two external displays 1 hdmi, 1 DVI)
Thank you all!
