If anybody still needs it, here is the NVDAEGPUSupport.kext for 10.13.4 17E202 (working OK with @mac_editor script)

Nvidia web driver -  https://images.nvidia.com/mac/pkg/387/WebDriver-387.10.10.10.30.107.pkg

@trampilot

bash <(curl -s https://raw.githubusercontent.com/learex/macOS-eGPU/master/macOS-eGPU.sh) --uninstall

this should be sufficient. The script will automatically search for existing installations and remove them.

@fr34k
I've had results with the latest alpha of your script, but support for dual eGPU's fails.  I have a trashcan Mac Pro with TB2 ports running os 10.13.3

After a run of your script on a fresh OS install the second eGPU enclosure isn't recognized by the system no matter which port its plugged into.

Luckily the fix is super easy: sudo automate-eGPU.sh -a

the -a option does something to my P-Ram which resolves the issue and the computer recognizes the eGPU.  I wish I understood what was happening and why this -a option fixes things!  i am worried about this not working in the future and using the use of my second GPU

Hi all,

I’m very new to this hacky eGPU environment. I have a late 2013 15” MacBook Pro that consists of a “intel iris pro graphics and GeForce GT 750M” I bought a Aorus 1080 gaming box. I’ve tried multiple ways from @fr34k and @mac_editor post. But always end up with a unbootable mac and I had to reinstall the OS.
I’ve tried:
csrutil disable
purge-wrangler
enable TB1/2
NVIDIA driver (with SIP enabled)
nvdaegpuSupport (with SIP disabled)

when rebooting it kinda stucked with the apple logo.

I’ve also tried the other way round:
NVIDIA driver (with SIP enabled)
nvdaegpuSupport (with SIP disabled)
Install CUDA
Reboot and it stuck at boot again.

Am I missing anything or I did the steps wrongly?

hi all, i'm new here, i subscribed to thank all the dev for their efforts
i was waiting for this and the OpenCL move of C4D ProRender to update to 10.13.4
So, after some troubles ( i've forgot to uninstall previous GPUenabler from 10.12 -  no comment ),  i ran pure-wrangler ( for TH1 and Nvidia ) then NVDAEGPU-8
and it works nice, internal monitor on dGPU and 2 external displays on eGPU  !
Resolve 14 works nice ( with StudioMini Monitor Output and Cuda for the GTX 970). Although, it seems, as mentioned in macOS-eGPU help that OpenCL or Metal2(?) doesn't work for me ( C4D last version > Prorender still works on the dGPU 650 m - Luxmark > doesn't see the 970 )
Again, thank you guys

I know about that, will implement the functions that @goalque's script does with -a soon (don't know when soon is but I promise it will come)

Hi all... 🙂
Can someone confirm, that the last new  V9 support works like a charm, like before 'critical' security update on Mac OS? (or still better not update Mac OS?)
(iMac 2017, Sonnet Breakaway+NVidia Quadro P5000)

thanks 🙂

V9 will not work. My script uses a custom universal installer. Also you need the patch as well

Hey guys, So I have a mid 2014 Macbook pro - non dgpu. My setup is as follows. I have a 4k screen with a 1070ti running in a sonnet breakaway box 350w with the tb3->tb2 Connector.
Currently, I have bootcamp running perfectly and Macos on 10.13.3. I plan now to try 10.13.4 If I make a time machine backup, will it be possible to revert back to 10.13.3 without problems? Thanks

Hi there, I'm still on 10.13.3 with a late 2016 MacBook Pro, Aikito Node and 1080 Ti and everything working fine with nvidia-egpu-v7.zip.

What's the recommended procedure to get 10.13.4 to work currently? Do I have to uninstall anything? Are we still waiting for fr34k's magic script? The most important feature to me is being able to hot-plug / unplug the GPU as it's currently a major pain to have to shut down or log out every time.. Is that something that is going to work?

Thanks for the great work fr34k!!

First off, thanks for all the hard work fr34k! I am successfully running a GTX 1060 in an Akitio Thunder2 enclosure on my 2013 MacBook 13".  The script ran great with no issues.  Hot plug and unplug doesn't work (and I didn't really expect it to).

Only bugs I've noticed so far are-

  • Some weird black flashing graphics artifacts show up running video in Chrome with Flash. When I move or resize the window the artifacts go away.  I'm thinking this is just some bug with the Nvidia web drivers.
  • I can't run video in iTunes...I had the same problem with this Nvidia card in my hackintosh but I thought that it may work with this setup since I still have the Iris graphics. Not a deal breaker since I rarely use iTunes.

Issue solved thanks to @devild' post here.

Nvidia web driver for 10.13.5 17F77 -   https://images.nvidia.com/mac/pkg/387/WebDriver-387.10.10.10.35.106.pkg

Original message:

"If it still does not work, please report: symptoms, model of your mac, model of your egpu box, model of your graphics card, model of your display

(s), and the kind of cable you used. I'll try to keep a list here to triage the problem.'

I really want to thank you guys for developing these tools, and I hope you can help me figure out what is going on.

I'm hoping this is enough info to go on:

The eGPU is recognized (however, key information is missing in the report, such as the actual model of the card) and a driver is loaded, as displayed in the PCI section of "System Information." The card also shows up in "Graphics and Displays" but it doesn't report that a display is connected.

I have CUDA installed (396.64) and it reports a driver installed (see version below) which it wouldn't do if it couldn't find a CUDA compatible card.

Steps to set up: (I did not plug in the eGPU until installation was done.)

 1. (with SIP enabled) NVIDIA web driver WebDriver-387.10.10.10.35.106 from: http://www.macvidcards.com/drivers.html
(webdriver.sh would would appear to install a driver, but there was no sign of the it after a restart)

reboot

2. with SIP disabled: purgewrangler.dmg. option 2 (NVIDIA) then option 3 (to make sure it was installed)

  reboot

3. NVIDIAeGPU Support V9.
reboot after eGPU is plugged in.

SIP is still disabled.

Hardware Configuration:
Macbook Pro Early 2011, 13" 2.7 Ghz 16 GB
eGPU is NVDIA GTX-780 in an AKiTiO Thunder 2 Box.
This configuration worked in Sierra with automate-egpu.sh

What I get:
"No Signal" on eGPU display - I have tested the display and cable with a minidisplay port adapter on the laptop, and it all looks OK. System Info also shows no display connected to the eGPU.

What I've done to try to fix it, including checking cables: Known issue "black screen on external display with/without mouse"  https://github.com/learex/macOS-eGPU#known-issues

I have your exact same setup but have never been able to get it to work in Mac OS. I've been running scripts and installing things for months as updates come out and nothing has ever worked. Closest I've gotten is with the latest "NVIDIA compatibility" scripts, which gets me to the point where I can log in to Mac OS with my graphics card and external display recognized, but all I get is mirrored displays, black background with only the mouse cursor showing. I can still interact with the desktop but can't see anything.

Did you ever find a solution to this, or did you ever write a guide that details how to get things running with your setup?

I am personally still having the same issue that I posted about.

However if you haven't already, try looking at the problem list here - sounds like you might be able to use "black external screen with/without mouse." I know you said that your displays are mirroring and black with a mouse, but if your system is mirroring the external display....

Do you have a custom build for an iMac Pro on 10.13.5?  I only see through 10.13.3

@david_king, iMac Pro doesn't need a custom build for 10.13.4-10.13.5 because it has the same OS build version as other Macs.

Nvidia web driver for 10.13.5 17F77 -   https://images.nvidia.com/mac/pkg/387/WebDriver-387.10.10.10.35.106.pkg

Thanks! That fixed it for me. I simply ran the new kext installer. I had already installed the current NVDIA webdriver and purge-wrangler in a previous attempt.

I really appreciate the work that everone is doing to get this working. I contacted Apple online chat to make them run through the paces before seeing that what I wanted to have help with was futile - the tech sugessted calling in and asking to speak with the help desk manager, as well as going to the Apple features request site - don't have the link.
I use CUDA and none of the Apple supported boards has it (it's proprietary NVIDIA) so you guys have save my bacon here.

Hot plugging eM's works, but hot unplugging leaves the display in question listed in the Displays pref pane.
The eject eGPU menu icon is present and lists the right hardware, but clicking on it causes what looks like a logout, After that, there is a Kernel Panic. I haven't tried hot unplug of the GPU yet, but I will and fill that data in here shortly. (update:as expected - Kernel Panic)

Cinebench wouldn't run the OpenGL test until I set the eM as the main monitor. It reported a 99.62 reference frame score and 23.95 graphics score. I can't run the CPU score, no idea why.

System specs
Macbook Pro Retina 2015, 13"
i5 – 2,6Ghz
macOS 10.13.4

eGPU hardware
Gigabyte Aeorus Gaming Box GTX 1070,  TB3 -> TB2 cable

Installation steps

1. Fresh install 10.13.4
2. Pure Wrangler script (Thanks guys!)
3. Nvidia web driver – I have skipped webdriver.sh (didn't work for me) and did manual install (drivers from repository xxx.107)
4. Nvidia enabler

Restart

Benchmarks (will ad later but little over 30% performance gain over GTX 970 I had on hackintosh)

Comments
I use it for 3D rendering (CUDA) in Blender. Good performance, fans spins when needed, card is little bit hot when running under load.
Doesn't boot with attached cable, but hot plug – once logged in system – works flawlessly. Eject GPU doesn't work for me, neither restart with enclosure attached. Unplugging when shutted down is OK, so I can live with it.

I have the same set up, didnt work for me.

Macbook Pro 13" early 2015
i5 – 2,7Ghz
macOS 10.13.5

eGPU hardware
Gigabyte Aeorus Gaming Box GTX 1070,  TB3 -> TB2 cable

Running fortnite at the lowest settings, ranging from 30-45fps...

It might be because im on 10.13.5?

Used this method below:

What am i doing wrong?

2017 iMac Pro, 10.13.04.
I have completed all the above process, and they all look good. But my GPU (1080Ti, Mantiz box) is not detected by the machine with NVDEA Support V9. After I changed to NVDEA for iMac Pro 13.13, I can detect the GPU but it was not useful. I log out and then the screen turns blue apple and green processing bar.

I have managed to make my Aorus box with GTX 1080 to work with MPB 2016 15" and external monitor.  MacOS version is 10.13.6.
First, unlock/install everything by stepping through instruction.
Turn off you MBP, disconnect eGPU, then boot and login without it. Set display mode to Mirroring. Then, connect eGPU to the MPB, the screen will go black with only mouse cursor visible. Press Command+Shift+Q to open logout popup, you wont see it on the screen, but it will be there. Press 'Enter' to logout. Now you should see login screen on your external monitor. Login as usual an voila! - external monitor is working properly and is boosted by the eGPU.

Nevermind, I went for a reboot to make sure I was being precise about actions I just described, and eGPU just stopped working. It's not being recognized after a reboot 🙁 Just fans spinning at maximum speed. Tried to run purge-wrangler (which I did after I updated to 10.13.6), but no luck. Worked for 1 day.

Hi,
I'm trying to uninstall this solution so:

curl -s "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/learex/macOS-eGPU/macOS10134/experimental/nvidia10134Uninstall.sh" | bash

to install the new version here:

https://github.com/learex/macOS-eGPU/tree/master#macos-egpush

But I've 404 error!
How can I uninstall the first version?

Thanks

Oh wow, I didn't think that anyone would still use the temporary workaround.
But OK, Are you planning on staying on .4 or do you want to upgrade to .5/.6?

If you want to stay on .4, I will recover the script for you and you can use the uninstall.

If you have upgraded / want to upgrade to .5/.6 you can just do that and execute

sudo rm -rfv "/Library/Application Support/nvidia10134/"

to remove the kext backup. And proceed with the new script. Aside from the backup, the upgrade should be handled all in one.

for now I prefer to remain on .4! thanks
I have a question, but in the future if I will update mac os, I must to reinstall everything or the update of the OS not touches the files created from the script?

.4 definitely works. May you run a macos-egpu --checkSystem and tell me what patches are installed. There may have been an error in the automatic scheduler.

I've updated some dependencies for .6, then a bug might have been introduced.

It should be:
NVIDIA driver [387.10.10.10.30.106] 387.10.10.10.30.107 if 17E202
NVIDIA eGPU enabler [installed]
AMD legacy drivers [not installed] T82 unblocker [not installed] NVIDIA dGPU [not available] NVIDIA macOS 10.13.4/.5 patch [installed]
IO PCIE Tunnelled patch [not installed] unlocked thunderbolt version [3] depending on your tb-connection 1/2
thunderbolt daemon [not installed]

macOS-eGPU.sh on GitHub (fr34k's macOS-eGPU.sh on eGPU.io)

Should the NVIDIA eGPU enabler be listed as installed even on .6?
