For those who have problems with new Nvidia drivers on 10.13.3, do next:

Download the webdriver.sh file from here - https://github.com/vulgo/webdriver.sh
Execute the following lines (while running the terminal with the path of the webdriver.sh file):
sudo ./webdriver.sh -cu https://images.nvidia.com/mac/pkg/378/WebDriver-378.10.10.10.25.104.pkg
sudo ./webdriver.sh -m

This fixed issues on 10.13.3 for me too. After updating (and updating nvidia drivers + reinstalling the nvidia eGPU support package) I got a black screen after connecting the GPU and logging out. This fixed it.

Welcome 10.13.3 note: 10%+ speed increase for Metal compute workloads!

Hi all, MacBook Pro 2017 TB-model, running 10.13.2 here.

Using an Akito Node + GTX 1080 TI. Everything works great, except I can't seem to get the computer to switch GPUs from the integrated Intel Iris 650 to the 1080 TI *UNLESS* an external display is plugged in. Note that the card is still detected by the computer, as per system information and NVIDIA Preference Pane.

Is there anyway to bypass this? It would be nice to use the eGPU even without an external display (albeit, at a power loss).

Thanks!

Hey, I'm running 10.13.4 as well, but clamshell mode still doesn't work for me, however, I have the eject GPU toolbar. Which driver did you use? I used .157

Also, does anyone else experience UI lag? I tried DisableMonitor, but it doesn’t actually deactivate the internal display. I’m running a dual monitor setup with a gtx1070 (displayport + hdmi)

update: using .104 seems to have made the UI responsiveness a lot better, clamshell mode still doesn't work. (mbp 15" mid-2017)

I'm super frustrated. I've been trying to get my Mantiz Venus with MSI 1080 Ti working on my MacBook Pro 2017 ever since I upgraded to High Sierra and no go. It just doesn't work. I've followed all the steps and I guess it's luck of the draw. I had it working under Sierra but was so excited when I saw people had it working in HS because I had other Sierra problems that HS fixed. Grr. One of these days.

What's the issue you are experiencing? I had a clean install today on 10.13.3 on a 15" 2017 mbp and everything worked fine, have you tried devild's workaround?

don't be discouraged, Nvidia eGPU is a bit of an imprecise science right now. do you *need* Nvidia eGPU? AMD is a plug-and-play solution. otherwise, keep trying. what works on 10.13.2 works differently on 10.13.3 and there's differences with and without FileVault. where are you at right now? what is it doing/not doing, what is your eGPU connection procedure? what software/drivers/scripts have you installed/run/etc?

Me Too

I am using MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015)+  High Sierra 10.3.3 + Akitio Node ThunderBolt 3+ Nvidia GTX 1070

It showed as

NVIDIA Chip Model

 NVIDIA Chip Model

  Type: GPU

  PCIe Lane Width x4

  Suppier: NVIDIA (0x10de)

  Device ID 0x1b81

  ROM preset 1.0.0

  Metal  macOS GPUFamily1 v3

Thunderbolt is connected and showed as "Akitio Node"

I am currently using 104 pkg (used the German Software to be able to install it)

Hot Plug log in and out trick does not work for me.

While I was on the login page ,whenever I plug in the eGPU, the screen got stuck and I cannot do anything. I have to restart and do everything without eGPU

And whenever I connect the eGPU, the fan first whoo for several seconds and stopped.

What's the difference with FileVault?

Thanks
