I think eGPU is the neatest idea ever conceived for a solution related to graphic for computing or gaming.

I might look into eGPU solution to solve the graphical demand problems of Late 2012 Mac Mini (maxed out memory at 16 GB with my plan to hack it to upgrade to 4k display), my father's HP Slimline (small form factor [sff]) with Windows 10 64-bit OS, and my sister's 2014 Macbook Air to turn into the workstations for graphic-intensive applications as well as gaming on a sff PC.

It's quite expensive even for a stand-alone chassis without the video card, but this solution looks cost effective compared to buying a more expensive computer with onboard graphic chip or integrated GPU, to turn -- for example -- Mac Mini and Macbook Air into the near-equivalent of Mac Pro and SFF into a decent gaming rig, for the sole purpose of testing and playing Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain in full 4k resolution at 60 fps with proper settings on the 55" 4k HDTV connected via HDMI.

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.
