👀 Countdown to Nvidia (RTX 3080?) reveal begins
September 1st is the day we get to hear from Nvidia about their next-gen cards.
I too am excited about these new cards.
My wife has just got a job so needs a monitor etc so I will have to reluctantly have to hand over my 5K and grab a high refresh rate 4K with normal connections, just what to pair it with Mac and eGPU wise (may go next gen Nvidia for simple bootcamp set up)
2017 13" MacBook Pro Touch Bar
GTX1060 + AKiTiO Thunder3 + Win10
GTX1070 + Sonnet Breakaway Box + Win10
GTX1070 + Razer Core V1 + Win10
Vega 56 + Razer Core V1 + macOS + Win10
Vega 56 + Mantiz Venus + macOS + W10
Micron let it slip the new cards will include their faster GDDR6X graphics memory.
Hey bro, do you think if it's possible to have the RTX3080 as eGPU for my Macbook?
I'm afraid that the RTX3080 will not be supported and I'd have to buy a PC for it
If I buy the 3080 when it releases, do you think it would run the new Cyberpunk at like 60fps on 3440x1440 high settings if I hook it up to my 2019 iMac with i9 and 40gb ram? I have been waiting for that game so long and would be happy to get it on 60fps at that resolution, hopefully the bottleneck won't be too bad but at least according to some charts here, at higher res and higher settings the bottleneck gets smaller. Obviously no one knows the specs but I would guess that high GPU could do it even as egpu
It shows a FPS difference of -33% in the Time Spy benchmark.
That’s using an RX 2070 eGPU looping back to the iMac internal display.
Yeah, I looked at them but I am not going to be using the internal monitor, the 33% performance loss is just way too much that way. Besides, doing lower resolution on that 5k screen will look like crap. Around 10% loss would be acceptable to me on external monitor.
Is there any builds with external monitor?
Dude - you’re totally fine. The game is gonna look awesome on a 1440p external display.
Sounds like the RTX 3080 will come with 10GB of GDDR6X graphics memory, and 4352 Cuda Cores. The rumored price is holding steady at $800.
The ultra high end 3090 card just sounds bananas...
