👀 Countdown to Nvidia (RTX 3080?) reveal begins
Amazon has a landing page for AIB RTX 3080 cards [link]. Newegg also has listings for AIB cards [link]. Best Buy will have RTX 3080 FE [link]. I'll be checking on Thursday at 6am pacific time. I like the Founder Edition design the most but that power connector location/angle is an afterthought.
@itsage, I want the FE, not due to it looking any better or worse (you can't see the card inside my sonnet anyway) but all the specs I've looked up of the cards the FE is the only one that actually looks like it sticks to the 2-slot width. The rest are 2 slot brackets but the card itself internally is almost 3-slot. The Breakaway Box 550 can support up to 55mm "height" cards (seems all the GPU have the width as how tall the card is from the slot) and all the ones I've seen are 56-57mm minimum.. I wouldn't want it brushing up against the case wall and causing vibration rattle.
@odin, funnily enough this miscalculation of 'width' is simply because, in most normal pc towers, the graphics card is on its "side", so to speak, whilst for us eGPUers the card is "sat up straight", if you take my meaning.
Thus the measurement of width for them is height for us, and vice versa.
Honestly I'm just waiting for the new RTX cards to be released so I can buy 16 series in new condition at a lower price. lol
@arizor, Yeah I realized that when I was thinking about why they would do that, it's been a LONG TIME since I had a true desktop case, my last desktop was a LONG time ago and an SFF case where the card also was in the slot-down configuration. It's easy enough to realize which dimension is which.
Wow. Impressive Day 1 sales launch this morning from Nvidia. 😏
I guess credibility doesn't matter much from their point of view.
Yeah, either that or they forgot to mention hiring Intel to build the 3000 series. 😂
Thanks for smuggling that prototype out of Gigabyte’s lab 😂
Good stuff. Looking forward to seeing the finished product 😅
@arizor, Now that I've seen review comparisons of the FE vs EVGA XC3 vs Asus TUF which include noise analysis (it's more important to me, I'll sacrifice a little more heat or a little less clock for quiet) .. I'm going to either get the EVGA or Asus TUF, they both look like they'll easily fit in the Sonnet BreakAway given the dimensions. There's quite a few that run over the 55mm height limit though (MSI Gaming X).
