Hi guys,

I recently got my Mantiz Saturn Pro which so far is working fine so far.

I am looking to buy a new gpu to put on the Matiz and I would appreciate some opinions as I am not an expert at all and just starting in the world of gpus...

I am playing mostly FPS and recently got a 2k 144hz monitor, so my target would be to play at this resolution and max hz.

Would you recommend to wait and buy a RTX 3080 or a RX 6000 series? Or would say that is too much and only needed for 4k...

Maybe a AMD RX 5700 XT is good enough? I read very good reviews but not having raytracing (not sure if I need it actually...)

Would you have any other recomendation?

I am not looking to pay money for the super premium, but I am willing to pay something decent if the buy makes sense...

I am a bit lost, so any advice is welcome!

@cl14

Look through the Builds section to find other users with your laptop. Pay attention to their comments about the cooling system and thermal throttling.

If your laptop cooling system is not a bottleneck, than yeah try out the 5700 XT with your games, and see what your frame rates are.

High and stable framerate is very hard to achieve on egpus, you can definitely play at 2k but not at 144hz on most games I believe.

@leandro_glossman, not true.

with my setup I run 120fps on sim racing titles . With high minus settings . That is the max my monitor would do.

@tsakal, I didn’t say impossible, I said it was hard. I would like to see results of what games and what egpu setups can achieve 2k at steady 144 fps.

@leandro_glossman, in my case iracing , f1 pc2 run at 120f0s. ACC is at 100. Tomb raider was more like 60, I just played for very short time.

with the 3080 it should be possible in most games to go over 100.

Hi guys,

Thanks for your feedback. Very much appreciated.

I´ve been reading about the RX 5700 XT and it is a model from 2019. I´ve seen prices around 440/450€ for a new one.

Would you still recommend same for my goal (2k and closest to 144hz as possible)?

Or would you get anything more new from 2020?

Thanks! you make this community great.
