In my case, my 2070 super is worse than my native gtx1060 in my laptop. When ray-tracing is off, and everything else is low in DX12, 1060 can hit stable 60 FPS. With eGPU, it's 50-60FPS.

Are you using an external monitor? If not, you have to make sure the RTX 2070 Super is set to accelerate the internal display. This can be done through Windows Graphics settings on game-by-game basis. The best option to accelerate the internal display with eGPU is through Nvidia Optimus. Make sure the Intel iGPU is working and can drive the internal display then disable the GTX 1060 dGPU in Device Manager. Nvidia Optimus will be able to work with Intel iGPU to automatically accelerate all games/apps through RTX 2070 Super eGPU.

Thank you very much for mentioning this. I do use an external monitor. My setup works pretty well on other demanding games like Metro except Control. My guessing is that the nature of Control requires more bandwidth than others. But I'm not sure if other people in the community have similar experiences.

@yitong_dai Yes there are certain games that are not eGPU friendly. The performance would be capped severely by the Thunderbolt 3 bandwidth. Some examples I recall are Forza Horizon 4, Assassin Creed Odyssey, The Division 2 [link]

I've been running the "High" preset and I get ~60 FPS with an RX Vega 64. I will try later today if this is the case at lower settings too.

Current build: 2017 15" MacBook Pro + Mantiz Venus MZ-02 + Silverstone SX700-LPT (750W Peak) + Noctua NF-A14 + Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming 8G (rev. 1.0)
Replaced parts: Sapphire Radeon RX 580 Nitro+; Sapphire Radeon RX Vega 64 (Reference model)

I just tested it and I can confirm that "Control" always hovers around 60 FPS no matter what setting is used, taking a dip into mid 40s at its lowest, and perhaps 100 at its highest, but always stays at 60 FPS for the most part. Here's a screenshot right after a heavy fight in the Low preset.

tbh I get more FPS in other new games, Control is demanding a lot, I guess Smile
