heyas I orded the 8.4 exp gdc on ebay got an 8.5c ngiff cable which I have working in my Lenovo y700 with a 1080ti. my question is do I have to get the v9.0 or the v8.0 to get x4 on my nvme slot or can I just get the m.2 mini pcie cord for my 8.5c to get x4?

If I am understanding correctly, I believe that the x4 adapter requires dual connecting cables off the M.2 header. So, You likely need the newer EXP GDC.
I can't speak with certainty as my own EXP GDC has yet to arrive in the mail. I would expect that anything bussed over the single-HDMI cable header would only have the wiring support for x1 performance, though.

Well, be sure to update when it comes in ... my Beast just arrived today (took six weeks to get here ... *grumble grumble* and I'll be benchmarking it against my PCE164p's (where I'm getting 1x 2.0) to see if there's any discernible change.
