Far Cry 5 has been tested on Windows with 16 different GPUs, AMD card really shines here.

This is very interesting. You can see for my values with this setting: 62/73 vs 85/100:

Note1: On 1080p there is more difference between eGPU and Desktop-PC. This is no surprise as the amout of data over TB3 in independent of resolution.
Note2: See at the link and look for the fact, that Titan V is outperformed, price != power.

Nice. Still holding on to the hope I’ll get my 580 working in windows.

In case you want to know: I got the BlackMagic 580 working with Bookcamp and MacBookPro 15" without any patch at all, but with black internal screen (dGPU 560X got Error 43)

If you're running the latest version of Windows 10, things are much easier (at least on the 2018 Macbook Pros). I too have a 2018 MBP and a Gigabyte RX 580 Gaming Box. As long as I plug the box in before I boot into Windows, it works with the only issue being the internal screen is unusable due to the 560X showing error 43 in Device Manager (not an issue since I almost exclusively use Windows with an external monitor). I imagine some of the 2017 models that also saw firmware updates that improved resource allocation would be in the same boat.

My understanding is that this is partly due to changes in Windows 10 and how it allocates resources and has added support for dGPUs to its eGPU process.

Edit: I've seen a few reports that DDUing all the drivers then updating drivers from the Boot Camp drivers gets both screens working. The error could actually be a problem with the Radeon drivers introduced sometime during the 18.8.x iterations? It would be interesting to see if there's anything Matt can do with his Boot Camp Drivers or if AMD will fix it in an upcoming release sometime.

By simply disabling the dGPU (560X) in the device Manager you can can get the instal display working, too. But, no direct acceleration because it is running with Microsoft Basic Display Adapter and you can't do fancy stuff, but it's better than a black display.

Two Radeon drivers just won't work under Bootcamp, I got even trouble trying an old 1950XT, internal display became black, too. Old nVidia cards work.
